Product description

Product Description

* BGP Funk & Jazz Classics returns with another overlooked album from the world of jazz and funk. It comes with its original artwork and brand new sleeve notes.

* "Accept No Substitutes" was the second album from the Portland funk outfit Pleasure. It contained their first R&B hit in the laid-back `Ghettos Of The Mind", plus the storming club floor-filler `Let's Dance', a collaboration with label mates Side Effect. The rest of the album is the band at their height and features out-and-out funk as well as the jazz dance classic `2 For 1'.

* Pleasure were signed to Fantasy through jazz trombonist Wayne Henderson who produced their early records, including this one. An eight-piece, their mix of soul, funk and jazz was hoped to be Fantasy's answer to the mega-selling Earth, Wind & Fire and Kool & The Gang. Although they didn't achieve that level of popularity, the quality of their music was as high.
