Ah, here, this set of books is amazing. There is a reason that they feature in the top tens of most graphic novel 'best of' lists. I have read them all before, but I now have the first four of the Absolute volumes. They are so worth it.
I have had the first three for over a year now, and I have reread all of them many many times. Almost every time I find something new, some element of mythology that was not apparent on the other reads. I have no hesitation in recommending these. The only reason I have not yet purchased the fifth in the series is because I am so tight that diamonds would ensue if I sat on a bag of coal. I am going to. Just not yet.

After reading the Sandman trade paperbacks I decided to buy the Absolute Sandman series. Each comes in a luxurious oversized hardback of over 600 pages, beautifully bound and complete with colourful slipcase. The attention to detail is amazing, the colours are brilliant and though heavy you can hold it on your lap to read. All have extras and at £40+ for each volume they are worth the money if you are a Sandman fan. Volume 4 has issues 57-75 plus lots of extras at the back.

Bought this as a present and it arrived well on time and was the perfect end to this series. The drawings are gorgeous and is truly Neil Gaiman. Couldn't be happier!

5.0 out of 5 stars a worthy conclusion to a great series 16 Dec. 2008
By William R. Harris - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Vol 4 is a very much a worthy conclusion to the Sandman series. It does an amazing job of bringing together all of the many (many) disparate threads into a single resolution that is totally and completely satisfying. While some may not like the simple art style featured in "The Kindly Ones," you'd be hard pressed not to admit that the art for "The Wake" looks beautiful and sets the tone perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth its weight in gold 30 Aug. 2009
By Lucas Sapucahy Coppio - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
The Sandman is one of the greatest comic series ever writen and this compilation, Sandman Absolute vol 1, 2, 3 and 4 have the quality that this piece of art deserves!

Awesome finishing, all the extras and comments, the box and hardcover are flawless!

This is a must have for any comic addicted and is the best "graphical novel" writen by Neil G. that you may ever find on earth!
5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ABSOLUTE SERIES 21 Oct. 2013
By abefroman - Published on Amazon.com

If you are going to purchase an Absolute series, these are the ones to get. All of these books are just incredible. They tell an amazing story, and contain some of the best comic art I've ever seen, which only looks more grandiose in this oversized edition. Each book has a table of contents, sewn binding, thick paper, vibrant ink, and some great extras.

As for volume four, this is the ending of the series. Though there is a volume five, it only contains short stories or one-shots that don't directly pertain to the main story thread. As for the ending, Gaiman wraps everything up. All of the side stories and the main story arc come crashing together in such a way that will leave you wanting more, but excepting that there won't be.

Though the omnibus is out, and is nice, I highly recommend you overlooking it and grabbing the Absolute set instead. This artwork should be seen in this format, and it is such a incredible product, you have no excuse for settling for anything less. Buy this!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great edition... 15 May 2014

Sandman itself has been reviewed multiple times, so I'll just talk about the book itself.

This is an amazing edition. The book is large and pretty hefty, so make sure you have room for it before you order! The box sleeves the book comes in is covered in awesome art book that is also reflected on the book cover itself. I love how thick the pages are. The extras and forwards are a big plus to collectors. While you could purchase the Omnibus for less than the collective price of these five books, I would recommend these. Better material, more extras, and all around better display. Truly the absolute version of The Sandman!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 18 Jan. 2009

The Absolute Sandman editions are just so amazing. Oversized, hardcover with slipcase, great quality regarding paper and ink. This is top of the line when it comes to collections. I will not go so much into the storyline since this collections contiunues right after the privious and to have the complete collection you really need all 4, right? These looks so good in my bookshelf. More comics should be presented like this. 5 stars, no complaints!
