I am a British author, retreat leader and educator, living in the West Midlands of the United Kingdom.
I've worked with various publishers over the decades, but now I work for myself, and my books are mostly self-published.
I am a Christian; I don't identify with a particular denomination. All of my books have some Christian basis.
Very sadly, I have outlived both of my children. Since around 2014 the focus of my working life has been supporting those who are bereaved as they navigate the own grief. I run supportive retreats and lead "grief companion" training, as well as hosting a blog on bereavement and loss themes at www.avalleyjournal.co.uk . My book on grief is "A Valley Journal", available in paperback, hard cover and ebook formats.
You can find more information about the retreats and my publications at my main website: www.abi.mayihelp.co.uk
I live in England with my husband John, who for many years has been better known as "Simon the Clown". You could say that he deals with laughter and I deal with tears, but the reality is more mixed than that, just like life.
My hobbies are walking, taking photographs, and experimenting with craft. My craft tends to be enjoyable more because of process than the product. I mostly work with felt, paint and stones. I populate my websites with my own pictures and also try to bring some creativity into my bereavement support. You can find my pictures on EyEem and Flickr if you look hard enough.
I support the Samaritans, an international charity providing a 24/7 listening service that is incomparable and invaluable, and I also support The Compassionate Friends, a peer-based charity supporting bereaved parents and siblings. www.tcf.org.uk
Oh, I'm also a cancer survivor.
