I've been using this laptop for University for about 10 months now and here is my review.

Games

Games play great on the device. The only lag I ever got was trying to play Battlefield 1 Beta, however I should note this heats up the system quite a lot and at the time I was in the Caribbean in 40-50 degree weather, so the game will have been limited. Games like GTA V, WWE 2K15, Gang Beasts and Rocket League are what I play most on this laptop and they all run great. This is great for a low - low mid spec laptop, however better will now be available for the same price.

Programs

I often use programs like 3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop, etc on the laptop and they all display and run great. Fast and powerful for my University work which is great. There is no problems here with the system.

When using the laptop I usually have it plugged in to get the best performance so I'm not too sure about the average battery life, however i have been able to use it generally for hours at a time unplugged.

The screen is great, high resolution IPS means that graphics work on it is easy and comfortable to use for many hours at a time.

The laptop itself is not too heavy, I carry it everyday in my backpack and it doesn't cause me any problems.

Only had this for a few days so far but had absolutely no problems as yet. This review will be updated over time.

Visually stunning, great feel to the keys, trackpad doesn't get in the way when typing, laptop is large but not hefty, very quiet which surprised me, handling anything I throw at it with ease (photo/video editing, mid level games (multiple at once)- will test further).

Came with ROG mouse, ROG backpack and headset with mic. Headset is of good quality and the sound is very good (though not incredible). Using my own headphones the quality of audio is immense. Very impressed.

UPDATE 09.02.17

Had no problems, still running perfectly in every way. My only gripe I've now got is that to turn the volume down with the keys, you have to press the fn key first. The fn key is bottom left, and the volume buttons are upper middle right - not the end of the world but you can't turn the volume down one handed without, for example, exiting full screen and using the trackpad.

The screen size is great for watching everything on it. Performance wise it is great for gaming on. The combination of the SSD and Windows 10 means users can expect it to boot up from a complete shut down in a meer 8 seconds for some lightning quick response with the immediate ability to get working. The headphones, laptop bag and mouse that come with the laptop are of an excellent quality and definitely benefit the utility of it.
It does suffer from some audio problems - clipping and cracking can occur on exceptionally loud sounds - though this was corrected for significantly in a recent BIOS update. Graphics wise, users may find the Intel drivers to crash occasionally when browsing the internet - whilst this was corrected in an updated driver, I found it diminished the performance of the Nvidia drivers and processor.
Every user buying this is highly!! recommended to buy the Coolermaster SF-17 or SF-19 laptop cooler if you intend on doing anything on it for an extended period of time. This will drastically increase the lifetime of it. Both of these will fit into the laptop bag that comes free with the laptop.
On a full charge the battery will last for about 2.5-3 hours so long as no games are being run.

After 10 years of service my Sony VAIO was finding it difficult keeping up with even the most basic of tasks; a Windows Vista machine that even after a fresh install to factory defaults, once those Windows updates got loaded back on that HDD light always seemed busy not to mention a couple of hardware bottlenecks. - Remember when 2GB used to be a lot of RAM?

So I had been contemplating the purchase of a replacement laptop for several months. Being something of a hobbyist in home computing for almost 20 years now, I was always one for chasing hardware that provided the best bang for my buck, the best value for money; I'd buy good hardware, yes but I was conscious of not aiming my sights too high as there exists a point where the expense for your return in performance becomes exponential. I'd advise others, friends, family, colleagues to never aim for the best machine they could find; to always walk away with a machine that suits their needs. These days however, if your interest doesn't stray much beyond internet browsing and Office apps you'll find that you can't even find a machine that's as low spec as that. The laptops available today pack some great hardware and are capable of so much more than most will ever need for just £300.

And yet... Since I put my last desktop together in 2013, I've got a bit power hungry (SLI graphics? I don't really need that... But I'm running it all the same!) and so I have been tickling that more expensive gradient of that power curve... But I have to say, I kinda like it.
