Before you buy any gaming laptop check the Amazon Warehouse Deals. I was lucky enough to get this for a steal @ £650 delivered. Could not believe my luck.

Aesthetically beautiful, brushed aluminium. Keyboard is light and very good - the real strength I feel is the off set arrow keys and seperate num pad - just like a full size keyboard. Laptop keyboards are typically small and compact and your hands have to adapt to typing with them; not the case here. This is just as functional as a desktop PC and excellent performance in Rome Total War. Windows 8.1 can be upgraded for free to W10 this year. I recommend buying this Asus ROG range; they're spot on. Display bright, HD, very good speakers and not that heavy/bulky - a reassuring weight and feels very well built. Tons of ports that you'll never use but are handy to have there. Runs very quiet, cool, and fast. Battery life, as expected, is about an hour and a half off AC. Not bad considering the computing power behind it all.

Buy now, get rid of your massive desktop with all the cables, and buy a good NAS drive. You'l never look back!

Initially was a fantastic computer for gaming! The backlit keyboard was attractive. I thought it was a worthwhile investment - especially when forking out such an amount. But I was extremely shocked when 6 months in, with moderate gaming use, the laptop dies on me and refuses to come on! It blinks for a split second then goes off. this is the first time a laptop has failed on me in the first 6 months of use. For such a highly rated, advertised as a premium gaming computer this is highly surprising.

To put this in context, I have owned and used a HP Pavillion which lasted 5 years of heavy usage abroad in a hot dusty country, a Sony VAIO which I had for 2 years and gave away as a gift and currently a DELL XPS which is going on 5 years. This is the first time I have bought a ASUS and have been extremely disappointed. But on the plus side Amazon has been most supportive with the issue and have promptly collected the defective computer back and issued a refund. I plan to buy another laptop from Amazon, would buy another DELL for their reliability (but for variety don't want two DELLS) but definately not an ASUS! As the saying goes 'once bitten twice shy'. Have learned from experience and thought to share what I have learned the hard way.

Bigger than your average laptop, definitely a desktop replacement rather than a portable machine. Silent in normal use but fans can blow a bit when under heavy load (which rarely happens). Very fast, Nice screen, trackpad is a pleasure to use unlike most laptops. Trackpad can be a littlle oversensitive if you hover your fingers above the trackpad. Solidly built. Nice to have the extra hard drive enclosure as this allows for huge amount of extra storrage to be added. Definitely a cut above the average laptop if you are willing to put up with the extra size and weight.
