    Top Customer Reviews

I bought this machine primarily for its touch screen facility to make it easier for my disabled daughter to access PC technology.

    On the Plus Side:

    1. This is a very beautiful, solidly built computer. I am referring to the all white version. The blue LEDS is a nice touch.

    2. This is a very easy machine to operate particularly if you can't use a keyboard or mouse. Switching the machine on is very easy even for my daughter.

    3. The touchscreen works extremely well, but I have reduced the screen resolution ensuring it is easier for my daughter to activate the desktop icons as her fingers are a little unsteady.

    4. The touch screen mirrors the mouse properties so can be set to single tap rather than 2 taps on the screen to activate applications.

    5. It is good for basic programs, internet and simple games and standard resolution video play.

    6. A good number of usb sockets. Happily runs external HD and DVD drives(almost! see below). Good large hard drive - 160 GB is just right.

    7. Generally as long as you are not running graphic intensive applications - if watching a DVD is intensive? this is a peppy little machine.

    8. Most importantly is happy using it and does not get frustrated too quickly.

    On The Minus Side:

    1. It's best potential feature is also its worst (Asus I hope you are listening!). Easy mode is an excellent idea, but it is completely none editable. My daughter does find it very easy to use, but it must be editable so user wanted applications can be accessed and not just those Asus thinks are important!

    2. Graphically it is slightly underpowered if you play video for more than 30 minutes. The image will stammer, freeze and the audio can be out of sync.

I just purchased an Eee Top for my elderly parents. Reviews on the net are generally favourable but I was not sure what to expect, however I am really pleased with this machine. The Top has an "easy mode" which allows the user to access applications at a touch of the screen. The interface is really well conceived and easy to use, I am hopeful that even my 90 year old father will find this simple. The Top also comes preloaded with Star Office so there is no need to add MS office unless you need it. Also has some children's games and solitaire preloaded, an easy to use webcam, and many more lovely touches. Easy mode takes you simply into each application and there is a File Manager "button" so you can find things. I am a dedicated Apple user myself but this interface won me over. Not a computer for people who like PCs to be hard work, (techie geeks probably hate it!) but highly recommended particularly for anyone who is not very confident with computers. You can run it in normal Windows XP mode too if you prefer.
The packaging is great and it is really simple to set up.

I bought this eeetop computer for graphics purposes and it does the job well, I do graphics design and the touch screen is a great feature and allows me to draw easily on my computer without the use of a graphics tablet. Its interface is really simple to use and the world is litterally at your fingertips. Its small enough to have resting on your knee and using the on screen keyboard is wonderful! I strongly recomend this computer and any price under £400 for a touch screen computer is an absolute bargain!

It also has WIFI built in, pleanty of USB ports a web camera a stylus which is slotted into the side of the keyboard, mouse and screen cloth.

A cracking bit of kit. Not a serious games machine, but fine for Sims 2 and Office 2007. Very neat and the styling fits right in with our otherwise Mac-dedicated household. Kids love the touchcreen.
