Initially, I looked at notebooks of a well known name with a good spec, ie Toshiba, Samsung. However the Eee Pc won over for value for money, general good reviews and same specifications and design. The key board is especially good as it is firm when typing and does not "bounce" as with some of the other well known makes. Saying that there are two fundamental problems, the @ symbol has been wrongly positioned and is in the position of the symbol " and visa-versa on the keyboard (not sure whether that is just my notebook or whether it occurs in all). The other is the finish to the edge of the screen. I was a little disappointed by the slight "sharp" edge, again though ,not enough to cause any functional or cosmetic problems. It seems that Asus have a very good reputation for support and warranty. The notebook works well and as long as it is used as a notebook ie for e-mail, web-cam, web browsing and small to medium jobs and not to bog it down with many applications or software. I shall be buying the extra RAM,2gbt(simply added to the under carriage compartment below the keyboard) as the processor works well and will help to function even faster. The wi-fi connection is very good. A very good all rounder.

I had an Asus 14" screen but wanted a smaller one, and this one does the trick. One thing you must realise up front is that it's not amazingly powerful - so if you want it to do run of the mill stuff (web, music, looking at photos) it'll do it fine, but other stuff it may struggle! Took a while to adjust to the smaller screen but the groovy multitouch pad has a cool zoom function that works well. However now I'm used to it, it's ace. Does exactly what I want, nice keyboard, light, good battery life, portable - and home friendly, I'd say if you're looking for a netbook you wouldn't go wrong with this one.

I was apprehensive about buying a computer with such a small screen and keyboard, but I have been able to overcome this. The screen colours are a bit washed out compared with my laptop on certain, which does effect the definition of some things, but to put it into context I have managed to use my Netbook out doors in bright sunshine. The keyboard is very responsive with the keys well laid out with plenty of space between them. The performance is quite good, I have upgraded to 2gb and I have run a number of applications including having multiple tabs open on my browser at the same time without noticeable performance degradation. I can get about 9 hours use out of the battery, although, I haven't actually run it all the way down yet, so that is a guestimate.

All in all I am quite happy with a computer that is capable of doing most of the things I want to do whilst easily fitting into a small bag. My only grip is the cost, I think that Netbooks are a little over priced when you consider that you are not getting what you would with a laptop, i.e full version of Windows 7, DVD drive bigger display, better processor.

I did buy an early model for one of my Nephews (13) I don't think he was that impressed mainly because of the screen size and performance and his younger bother ended up asking me for a laptop. So I really think that Netbooks are aimed at people on the move rather than like my Nephews, who only use the computers at home, if you want a computer for home then go for a laptop or desktop, if your going to carry a computer around for any significant time then consider a Netbook as long as screen size and performance aren't essential.

So far so good! Have only been surfing, playing online games and word processing (Windows 7/Microsoft Office 2007), sometimes simultaneously, but no problems so far and has an excellent battery life (9+ hours - haven't taken it to the max yet). Seems to be very good at what it does, after all, this is a netbook, not a laptop. ;)

My only complaint is that when using the web, the browser tool bars at the top seem to be disproportionally big compared to the screen, but very useable all the same. Maybe a change from Explorer would solve this problem.Asus 1005PE 10.1-inch Netbook (Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz Processor, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, up to 11 hr Battery, WLAN, Bluetooth, Webcam, Windows 7 Starter, Black)

I got this netbook and all i can say is that it looks amazing! Bad thing is the glossy lid, i thought it would have a pattern but i was wrong. Also there are versions with glossy screen but luckily mine is a matte display which is alot better for outdoors.

The battery performance is unbelievable. I could actually get over 11hrs on this, this is if u switch it to power saving mode but typically it should give 6hrs minimum running on high performance.

I would point out that the 250gb HDD is false. If i remember correctly it is just over 200gb. This device contains 2 HDD not one.

I installed windows 7 home premium and it runs absolutely fine on just 1gb of RAM. It might be wise to upgrade to 2gb if you are going to multi-task heavily.

build quality is good. I did notice that the front edge is quite sharp.
Speakers were suprisingly good for a netbook. Its even louder than my laptop speakers.
Chiclet keyboard is the best. The backspace key may need getting use to, as well as the direction keys. But typing in general is very comfortable and i was able to type quicker on this keyboard.
