After reading his other two books, "Final Winter" and "Animal Kingdom" I was rather fascinated about reading his Thriller "ASBO". Downloaded it, and gosh, its hard to put down! It follows the trials of a man who somehow manages to peev off the neighbour hood louts. (Anti-social-Behaviour-order)for those who dont know what an ASBO is. Its written with grit and has a rather sharp edge to it, far better than "Animal Kingdom" and even though there are no beasties of the monster variety in this, Iain makes do with the worst kind, the Human kind of beasties! Its scary as in what he mentions in this fictional book, is actually happening around us. Thats the scariest thought of the day! Have a good gritty read, would recommend ;) 5 stars ;)

This is the second of Iain Rob Wright's books that I've read, and I haven't been able to put it down! It's a terrifying story, especially because (without giving too much away) the things that happen in the book can and do happen in real life - probably more than we know!
I really enjoy reading books that shock me, and horrify me, make me feel slightly uncomfortable, and this didn't disappoint. Brilliant! I only finished reading 'The Final Winter' a couple of days ago and loved the links between the two books, and some of the characters popping up again.

This is a really well written book, which drew me in, and like 'The Final Winter' made me feel completely involved.

I will be recommending this book to anyone who loves being on the edge of their seat, and loves good and realistic characters, and who loves something that really makes them think! I can guarantee they won't be disappointed!

Firstly, I cannot believe that this book has received some 1 star reviews on Amazon. Just glancing through them, I am inclined to think that the authors of the reviews are biased for some strange, unknown reason. I read every single day. My genre of choice is horror and psychological terror. I'm not saying my opinion should be the be all and end all....rather, I'm saying that when it comes to this type of genre I will immediately put the book down and start something else if it hasn't grabbed me within the first couple of chapters. I feel that the author does an excellent job of creating his characters. I felt quite ill whilst reading this book; so much so, that I had to put it down for a few weeks to muster up the courage to revisit it. It disturbed me. For this genre of book, this is an excellent recommendation in itself. The setting, storyline and characters are all going to stay with me for a very long time to come. Again, this demonstrates the skill of the author in grabbing his readers' attention and ensuring that they feel part of the book. What worried me, and made me fearful to read on, was the fact that the scenario in the book is more than likely demonstrative of England today. It was a little to close to home. Every page I read, I could picture the action actually occurring on any estate in the UK. I don't think for one minute that this story was far-fetched - read the news on a daily basis and atrocities like this are occurring all the time. the book is extremely thought provoking. Questions are raised, such as 'How far would you go to protect your family?' Without giving any of the story away, I think the main character (Andrew) reacts in a way that most people would.Read more ›

As a fan of J A Konrath & Blake Crouch and and having read all of their books I was put in the direction of this novel. I was sceptical at first, especially it being a free book. It took not long to get acquainted with the characters and as a fast pace book I genuinely for the first time, couldn't put my Kindle down with the need to know what was happening to Andrew and family! It's very fast paced and but keeps you wanting more. I guess it does have a few little plot holes and a is a bit "out there" at points but that's what makes this genre of writing interesting. I WANT edgy stories. I WANT a gripping tale. I WANT to feel anxious. I WANT to know what the hell is happening next... & this book delivers on ALL aspects. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised...

went to bed to read a few chapters of this book.... stayed awake for another 5hrs reading as could not put this down.
Wow Iain grips you right from the first few pages and does not let go.
The characters are believable and this makes for a gut wrenching read. Iain states this is a thriller more than horror, but I beg to differ... the truth in this novel is horrifying... none of it seems OTT or not plausible.
All big towns/cities in UK have this issue now with feral kids running around bored, and reasons or not, the stuff they do and say is scary stuff... no fear generates some real terror.
Iain manages to make you feel every emotion with this read.... amazing!
I cannot praise this book enough, it has left me gobsmacked!

I got this book a while ago as a freebie. I have recently read several of Iain's books and was thrilled to find that I already had this one on my kindle. From the first page I was hooked and I couldn't put it down.
When Andrew decides to walk to the local chip shop to treat his wife and daughter he has no idea it will be a decision that will change his life forever. On his way there he is stopped by a group of teenagers who want Andrew to buy them some cigarettes. When he refuses the gang leader sets about making Andrew's life hell by targeting his home and his family. The police are powerless and things soon begin to spiral out of control.
This book is not for the faint hearted and contains some upsetting scenes of violence but it is a fantastic read with great characters.
Another gripping book from a very talented author.
