As the title says this book is for AQA A2 course and covers all the topics in the curriculum. The book is well written, each chapter is well presented in small chunks and summary questions given to test your own understanding of the topic. The book also gives past exam questions but I wish it gave answers as well... but I can see the reason why they could not provide it. A chemistry school should be able to help you - in any case questions are not too difficult and I think it really tests your understanding of the topic. I'd not be doing A2 chemistry without this book

This book is essential if you want to pass your chemistry exams, it gives all the needed information. Also, in order to achieve great results , you need to do all the extra exercises this book contains, they helped me a lot to get high grades.

Had to buy the book as Son needs it for class, however i am told by him that there are mistakes in the book that his teacher has pointed out. And the notes can at times be very difficult to understand. However the revision guides i have bought are helping him.

All I can think as I try to read and comprehend this book is that they seem to be trying to explain everything in the most counter-intuitive way possible.
I have just completed my A2 chemistry exams and I can say that, after the first two months of my course, I didn't touch this book at all, as I found it so mind-bogglingly convoluted every time - and there are also quite a few mistakes!
I found a CGP textbook much more helpful - I don't think many people know that they do a full textbook, but you can really tell that they've worked hard to think about how to present the information in a way that people might actually be able to understand so that they can do well in their exams. If you're like me, and need something explaining in a logical and clear way that still gives you the details, try it: A2 Level Chemistry for AQA: Student Book

This book is pretty concise for an A2 text but that is both its strength and weakness. Essential for the previous AQA a-level, most (but not all) of the explanations are concise and clear, but there is not quite enough grounding here to equip students for all the possible questions that might come up. (The best ever text for the old AQA has to be the Atkinson and Hibbert book - not just my opinion, my students loved it too, with the possible exception of some of the transition metal chemistry.) Plus lose a star for not being able to look inside the book. A big minus as having to buy so many new textbooks I want to know what I'm buying! In fact I have just purchased an alternative text to the 2nd edition of this for the new linear a-level for precisely this reason.

Used as a support material in sixth form. Good practice - although the exam questions do not come with answers in the book (you must check online). Few errors in images such as a charges on ions etc. I recommend a revision guide for a comprehensive study - which is required since examiners can be very pedantic on this exam board - not to mention Chemistry A2 is one of the most difficult A-levels!

I received the book today and I flicked through the pages. All seemed good until I turned the pages to find that the last chapter (chapter 16) was missing and instead the beginning of the book had repeated. So, the end of my book has duplicate pages from the beginning. Very disappointed, not sure if this happened to anybody else.
I will be returning this book to Amazon in order to get a replacement.

This covers most of the content on the specification. As with the AS textbook, there are many things that come up in past papers that are not answered in this textbook. It definately helps for the exam but do not rely solely on this textbook to get the A grade everyone is looking for.
