Got this unit on December 2016, still running and server me well (now March 2019). 350VA for light duty, just to keep my modem, router, NAS and security cameras online in case of short power cuts. Haven't really tested how long it stays on, just few times got notification emails from my NAS saying it switched to UPS and then back to normal after a while. While everything else at home went down, my security system was running like nothing happened, which is nice.

Purchased to power our router and avoid having to keep resetting it after power dips or outages. Works fine with the router power supply and lasted more than two hours during our last power outage. Too early to know how well it will last but is well made and only need the battery connecting for it to work. It is made to work with IEC plugs and sockets and connects directly to a PC and two leads are included for this in the box. You will need leads for the input (13A to IEC C13) and (IEC C14 to 13A) to connect devices if you want to use it with anything that has a 13A plug on the power supply e.g. router power supply.

I have had this uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for a year now and feel that it deserves this feedback since it has proven to be very reliable. It has done everything it is supposed to do, i.e. kept my computer system operating normally after a number of power cuts giving me more than enough time to shut down without losing data or causing any malfunction. That is over 5 minutes in my case but that time will be more or less depending on how many peripherals you are powering (I have two external hard drives, an external speaker system and printer). If that is not long enough for you maybe a larger size UPS in the same range would be better for you.
The build quality is very good as you might expect considering APC provides a two year warranty period which includes an additional comprehensive insurance policy against losses caused through any malfunction of the UPS. When there is a power cut it seamlessly continues supplying 230V from its battery, giving warning bleeps to alert you if you are in another room.
I have contacted the manufacturer via email for information a couple of times and they have responded almost immediately with full answers through their system of customer support which I have found to be excellent.
The software package (PowerChute) that comes on a CD provides a number of monitoring and setting options that will suit most users.
It may not be the cheapest UPS out there but I would say it is one of the very best for the price, and when it comes to price, cheapest is not always the most reliable, which I have found this UPS to be.

Living in a rural area we experience relatively frequent power outages, often for no more than a couple of minutes, but enough to cause havoc with my media centre PC that is attached to my TV.
I have used APC equipment at my workplace and it has always served me well so I decided to try one of the small home units.
The BackUps 650va is indeed very small and light for a UPS. It is silent in operation and can easily be hidden away.
Setting up the UPS is child's play as both Windows and OSX recognise it as soon as it is attached.
The optional software is, in my opinion, the defining difference between this UPS and others. The software installed without a problem, is extremely intuitive to use and allows for all sorts of customization (that even extends to silencing audio alarms between certain times and days.)
My PC is fairly powerful and draws around 200 watts in idle mode so the UPS will only run the machine for 20 minutes but that is long enough to see me through short outages and, if the power stays off for a longer period, the software safely shuts down my PC.
The UPS is designed to protect computer equipment that utilize the standard PC power connector so, if you want to use it for other equipment, then you may need to buy different leads. (I have also put my Sky+ box through the UPS as it positively hates power outages but I needed to buy a 'special' lead.) IEC C14 Plug to Figure 8 Connector, 2m [Electronics ]
Overall I am delighted with the look, quality and functionality of this unit and thoroughly recommend it.

Good, but only if your device is compatible with a stepped sine wave battery output.

I bought two of these; one for an old Mac Pro, the other for a more recent iMac. This is a good stable product for older computers, or Network Attached Storage devices (NAS), but the newer iMacs are NOT compatible with the 'stepped sine wave' that comes from these batteries. They require a pure sine wave founder in pricier APC products. Credit to Amazon, I was able to return one of the APC units in rapid speed, and purchase a pure sine wave UPS device. CyberPower do some great products, espcially for the price. The CyberPower CP1300EPFCLCD is a great alternative.

I replaced the battery in 2015 with a third party one [ASIN:B00SMSA944 RBC2 RBC17 Replacement Battery RBC 2 17 for APC UPS - UltraMax 12v 7Ah Battery] but the UPS itself is still in use on a daily basis and has been regularly tested thanks to the sensitivity of the RCDs in modern consumer units..

The connections are poor at the rear. The plugs do no stay secure and cause lose connections with shorting out/crackling. Always the danger of upsetting a connection by moving/touching the unit or wiring.

Whilst away for a few days this unit went wrong, causing the mains electric trip switch to flick off, hence loosing a freezer and fridge full of produce, admitting it was 9 years old but in itself it should have had a fail safe switch off built in.
