Signature Edition Q 460 mini headphones will connect you to your favourite music from virtually any portable player with all the dynamics you expect - and Quincy Jones demands - from the AKG brand.
Designed for long hours of comfortable use, the Q 460s fold flat for easy portability and feature a detachable, single-sided cable in two different lengths. We don't think you'll find a livelier, more accommodating travelling companion:
"I visit more than a dozen countries every year, and these are the headphones I want with me." - Quincy Jones
AKG Q460 mini on-ear headphones let you hit the road Quincy Jones style. The Q460s are the result of a partnership with AKG and one of the most accomplished musicians of the 20th century: Quincy Jones - an American icon whose productions include the best-selling album (Thriller) and single ("We Are the World") of all time.
AKG's Q460 will connect you to your music from virtually any portable audio or video player with all the dynamics and sound quality you'd expect for the premier set of "golden ears" of our time. The lightweight and comfortable design blocks out most ambient noise, freeing you to enjoy hours of balanced, reference-quality sound.
The Q460 is also the perfect partner for use with Smartphones, allowing you to make and receive calls as well as control several music playback functions of the iPhone with its in-line remote control.

Just got this for travelling and they are very portable, fold into a package that is easily pocketable. You also get a sturdy case that's not too big if you don't want to preserve them better. Otherwise use a sock?
You get 1 cable with mic/volume ~1m in lime green (!) which works with Apple devices including iPhone/iTouch 4, if you use a different device the mic might not be recognised. You also get a normal cable ~50cm (also lime!) which is so short it's next to useless. Both are very thin (for portability?) that does raise questions as to their life expectancy. I'm buying a thicker, longer (1m), black replacement cable.
The on the ear closed design works and does isolate you from the background noise pretty well; they won't beat active noise cancelling but they work well for me. I find them confortable considering I prefer over the ear versions.
How do they sound? I compared them against AKG K141, Beyerdynamic 235, Sennheiser HD600 and in-ear Sennheiser CX 500, 400, 300 II and 300 original on amp, laptop, Cowon MP3 player and various phones.
If you like bass and "lively" music you'll like them: don't expect (monitor) flat response but for travelling I think it's ideal. They are also pretty sensitive so you don't need to turn the volume to the max to blow your ears off; on the laptop, 10% volume is more than sufficient at home and 20% while travelling so there is plenty left.
If you want something better than in-ear but pocketable for travelling I think these are great; if you have Apple kit they should be worth it, otherwise there's K450 or even K430 for (much) less - though I have not tried them to see whether they sound worse.
But I have to say, other than this, there are several obvious and severe problems that cannot be ignored.
Firstly, the two parts with the "Q"s on each phone are actually two plastic plates that are attached to the headphones. Unfortunatly, the one on the left phone is quite loose, which means it wobbles, and with every movement of my head, it makes sound which I can hear clearly while listening to music.
Moreover, I ordered a replacement for the 1st one I bought, but I was astonished that the replacement had the exact same problem.(I'm sure it's another pair)
Secondly, also for both the original and the replacement, the in-line remote control does not work with my iPod classic, but I think it's because my iPod is quite old as I got it about 4 years ago. Never tried with an iPhone, but doesn't work with Moto Milestone 2 (Android)as well.
Thirdly, they are a bit tight I think. I don't have a big head, actually some of my friends refer to me when they talk about someone with a small head. But I still think it's tight, but anyway, it depends.
P.S. The very short cable is quite good if you put your mp3 in your inner jacket pocket. The carrying case is good as well.
Size wise: they're big enough to create a seal around your ears to eliminate any outside noise. I only have the volume half way up, and I can't hear anything else except my music.
They come in a hard black pouch which is properly padded, so no need to worry that they'll break any time soon.
On the down side, I'm not sure how long the ear padding will last though, as it doesn't look like treated leather and the description is "supersoft ear pads".
Overall, I would definitely recommend them, considering that their standard price is 129.99£ and amazon sells them with 53.05£
I focused more on AKG and Sennheiser. Believe me Beats by Dre is nothing unless you are a fan of that kind of music that Dre is doing. I tested it. An unnecessary bass on the back, and you are barely hearing the music. Trust me pro, studio, solo or whatever version just pass it. Bose is very good, especially the new generation. However, like Beats by Dre it is very expensive. If a brand is so important to you, and if you can afford it then you can buy it. You will be happy. Nice sound, nice design and nice case.
Sennheiser is a master in terms of music and headphones. Instead of design and other stuff, they focus more on the quality of the sound. A reliable name, reliable sound quality. The only problem in Turkey is the variety. You can not find a lot of options and the ones they have are old generation.
AKG: Especially I wanted to buy K450. Very reliable and very good sound quality. However, old generation. Q460 Quincy Jones is extremely good. In all terms. Sound, design, quality. As Mr. Jones says in his video on YouTube. AKG always delivers. Price is very nice. You can go all sorts of QJ models, ear-in, ear out, ear cover...You will pleased I guarantee that...Hope this is helpful for you guys...
