3.0 out of 5 stars Just a little for everyone 28 Aug. 2012
By Mark Sowers - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is a short book. I read the whole thing in about an hour. It is clearly written for a more mature teen who is able to feel empathy for all others involved. Because it covers almost all types of adoptions (and there are many) only parts of the book will apply to your situation.

1) Does a good job describing the variety of thoughts a birth-mother might be feeling.
2) Gives lots of examples from real people affected by this issue showing the wide range of feelings one could have.

1) Does not touch on the special case where a child is removed from a dangerous home by the courts. In this case both the birth-mother and the child know each other and often want to be together, but can't be.
2) Assumes that the adoptive-parents fertility issues are the reason they chose adoption and implies that this is the cause of many of the missteps adoptive parents take.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tool for our daughter 25 Dec. 2012
By Bruni - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
We bought this book with the intention that it will help our daughter find answers and better understand herself.
We hope it will help her accept who she is for whom she is and not by the circumstances in which she came to be.
