An excellent collection of 4 classic Punk albums with their original track listing not diluted with "bonus tracks" and a very good singles/b sides compilation. These albums are still a very good listen and have aged very well.

Proper punk rock from back in the day. Time to ditch your Blink Green 182 Sum Day 41 bloody albums. They are still going strong now, which when you consider Charlie was nearly as old as your grandad at the time is great.
They are presented as vinyl replica sleeves which I love. I hate those horrible plastic jewel cases, abominations. Cheap as chips obviously, but who can afford those lovely japanese ones with proper spines? Not me anyway.
If you're a youngster and you love punk, give this set a go and you'll love it even more.

Released in 2014 by Demon / Edsel, this excellent 5 disc box includes the first 4 album releases from the UK Subs most commercially successful period, on the Gem label, and collects the single versions / non-album tracks on a fifth disc. The UK Subs are one of the best punk acts. The lead vocalist Charlie Harper was already a veteran of several London-based R&B groups.

'ANOTHER KIND OF BLUES' (1979)
The debut album was a 17 track value-for-money release, produced by John McCoy from 'Gillan'. It contains re-recorded versions of 'C.I.D.', 'I Live In A Car', 'B1C', 'Stranglehold', 'World War', & 'Rockers'. The repetitive punk singalong 'Stranglehold' & 'Tomorrows Girls' were hit singles in 1979. 'Another Kind Of Blues' is a strong collection.

The late Frank Zappa expressed a liking for 'I Live In A Car' in a TV interview. 'TV Blues' makes the point that you can be imprisoned for "Watching your own TV" (without a license). 'All I Want To Know' could easily have had a more offensive title.

'BRAND NEW AGE' (1980)
The first UK Subs album I ever bought. I got the vinyl LP in 1980 on the strength of the hit single 'Warhead'. I remember an appalled (elderly) work colleague reading the chorus aloud: "war-head, war-head, war-head, war-head, war-head........" from a music paper. 'Teenage' was also a hit single in 1980.

The title song 'Brand New Age' accurately predicted the rise of CCTV cameras back in 1980- "is the future gonna be a nightmare, everywhere you go they're always there". In 'Organised Crime' Charlie protests about 'Government Officials'. 'Public Servant' has a similar theme. 'Barbie's Dead' has a short, dynamic guitar solo.

What can you say about the Subs. This retrospective view is great for any new or old fans around that maybe have not heard or own the back catalogue. OK its on CD but so what this is great for blasting out in the car while singing to "New York State Police " at the top of your voice. Mr Harper you are a legend !!!!
