Product Description

Spider-Man: The Movie allows fans to play as Spider-Man in several highly detailed 3-D environments inspired by Sam Raimi's live-action feature film. This full roaming action-adventure game allows you to jump into the suit of a fledgling Marvel superhero and learn how to battle the forces of evil. Crawl, leap, and swing from the dizzying heights of skyscrapers to catch criminals and supervillains, and, ultimately, come face-to-face with the Green Goblin in a death-defying display of aerial combat. During the course of the game you must use Spider-Man's spider sense, agility, quick wits, and strength to evade the pursuit of the bad guys and overcome obstacles.

Amazon.co.uk Review

Spider-Man: The Game brings your friendly neighbourhood webslinger to life with engrossing realism, proving that a superhero game of such complex nature can be achieved with nearly flawless and non-intrusive gameplay. Be it wandering the city's environs in search of villains, or just checking out your surroundings by web-swinging high above them, you truly can do whatever Spider-Man can. It's all here: high-flying aerial battles, the ability to web up and yank your enemies close for pummeling, and the capacity for crawling or web-zipping up, down, and over any surface--and that's just for starters. All in all, this is one involved game that doesn't fail to live up to the hype.

The game parallels the motion picture's storyline, steering you through a progression of challenges that begin with the hunt for Uncle Ben's murderer, and ends with a final showdown with the Green Goblin. You begin as Peter Parker dressed in his wrestling costume and must defeat a variety of thugs throughout each level before advancing to the next set of challenges. The game gets progressively tougher as you encounter in turn Shocker, the Vulture, Scorpion, and, of course, the Green Goblin.

Visually, Spider-Man is a treat: cityscapes unfold in realistic detail and are enhanced by sunlight shining between buildings; cut scenes offer seamless animation; interiors are painstakingly recreated; and Spider-Man and his enemies are well rendered, moving about the screen in clean fashion. As an added bonus, most characters are voiced by their movie counterparts, and the training mode features the sarcastic wit of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. --Larry White

Pros:

  • Detailed controls bring Spider-Man to life
  • Challenging gameplay enhanced by numerous fight styles
  • Stunning visuals at every level
Cons:
  • Camera angles slow to respond at times
  • Some interiors too dark
  • Repetitive one-liners

I'm 8 years old and I'm new to gaming as I just got my first games consol the PS2 last September.
I found Spider man the movie game perfect for me; it wasn't too long or too difficult. It took me around 4 weeks to do and I didn't need any Walkthroughs coz Spidey and his chums guide you through the action and what action!
The look of this game is amazing, this is the best looking game I've seen on PS2. It's bright and vivid and when I'm flying spidey through NY I feel dizzy because unlike Spidey I haven't got a good head for heights, so for me it a 10 out of 10, much better suited for me than the Batman Vengeance game that I'm struggling with.

This game honors itself with stunning graphics and amazing gameplay. Trust me you wont get board with this game unless you dissobey the mission objectives! the disc offers you a massive field of levels to accomplish I would reccomend this game for people who like plenty a dish of action (you've got my vote!). the storylines the same as usual rescue hostage destroy the evil buttfaced leader,(Green Goblin)-who you can be by starting the game on hero/superhero quiting to the menu, type in arachnid in the cheat options and finally going to last level (activated by the cheat) watch it go to secret store scroll to the bottom swich goblin on and cool you've done it! (You even get his glider!) To be mary-Jane go to cheat options and type in girlnextdoor (the conclusion is very amusing in which I would not reccomend young children to see!!) Back to the game er....10/10!!

Spiderman is one of the best superhero games to have appeared on a console. Based on the movie blockbuster, Spiderman has four main supervillians weaved into this rigidly level based offering. The Shocker, the Vulture, the Scorpion and the Green Goblin. In between these supervillians are a number of gangs who grow stronger and smarter as the game progresses. At your disposable, though, are a number of web attacks, as well as the ability to throw bins, barrels, tables and even cars, along with the usual kick-punch attacks.
The extra skills you may need to progress through the game can be learnt through the extensive training section on offer; teaching you how to make best use of spidey's powers. Spiderman can use his web shooters to swing across the city, create a zip-line which can be attached to a surface to quickly pull him in. Spidey can also use his webbing to tie up enemies, to generate hardened Web Gloves or to create a protective Web Dome.
The games graphics offer detailed environments and characters, with voice-overs from Maguire and Defoe. In all this is an a fun superhero action adventure allowing you to recreate all the fun of the movie.

This game has amazing grahics. It is just like the film, you can get all types of different spider kits when you complete the levels. You can jump from building to building with your web shooters. The enemys get harder as you comlete the levels and it shows clips of the actual movie when you have comleted the level. All I am telling you is that if you haven't watched the film you have to buy the game.

Hello dear spidey fan.
This game is brilliant and a very welcome title to my small collection of Playstation 2 games. I am very select about buying games but when i saw this i just had to have it and i sure am glad i did that.
Let's start with the playability. What can i say, it has most if not all of spidey's patented moves and now you can change direction when swinging in the street unlike in 1 and 2. The basic story is that of the film, a pretty much exact copy only with extra's for you to do that are not in the film but give the game it's length. It took me about 7 hours to complete and to give you an idea on how quick i am, it took me 10 hours to complete metal gear solid 2 on normal mode. Anyway back to spidey, it's just how you would imagine when reading the comic books, every move looks good.
That point leads me onto the graphics of the game, they are something special. Using the same sort of detail as MGS2 has helped this game in it's quest to be more realistic than the others. The one flaw being the way it can get kinda slow during big explosive parts of the game but that doesn't make the game any less good, just a bit annoying at some points. There are not many if not, no jaggedy lines and the producers have done very well with this as it is difficult to keep out of those situations all you have to do is look at something like NBA 2001 and you will notice that EA Sports have fallen into the trap.
The sound is pretty up to scratch as well and the game kept with the sound throughout. When you see someone talk, there mouth moves in exact timing with the speech making it very realistic and the sound sure helps suck you into the game.

It was a remarkable Marvel Comic.
It was an exceptional movie.
This is no ordinary game...
The engine's roar and tires' screech fade from your dreams as 'Gran Turismo 3' and 'Burnout' trail behind you. Tendrils of smoke from your 'G-CON2' weave heavenward as 'Time Crisis 2' falls beaten and bested at your feet. Legends, such as 'Metal Gear Solid 2', 'Tekken Tag', 'Final Fantasy' and 'Devil May Cry', have long been mastered at all levels and are neither threat nor challenge to you anymore.
You thought you had been hero enough. You thought you could fade to anonymity. You thought your work was done... You thought wrong. Just as you start to polish your trophies whilst packing away your 'dual shock 2'... Just as your girlfriend nurtures the hope of seeing your face in the light once again... Just as your digits and reactions were growing blunt and rusty... A new challenge has taken form:
Shocker, Vulture, Super-Soldiers, and Green Goblin... Armed to the teeth and more than a wee bit tetchy. These formidable opponents possess awesome power, speed, weaponry and perception. They are faced in mid-air battles, martial arts combat, stealth missions, and beat-the-clock bomb-disposal rounds that leave you gasping.
And what do YOU have at your disposal? A stretchy costume and an insect bite. Fantastic.
On the positive side: all this is bound up in a fast-paced coherent plot that encompasses, and goes well beyond, the boundaries of the movie. Witty satirical dialogue from the original actors really help the atmosphere. Especially in Dolby Pro-Logic II Surround sound. Even the training sessions are hilariously funny due to the dry sarcasm of your narrator Bruce Campbell. The graphics and scenery are smooth, seamless and stunning.
