Product Description
ACS Elacin Hi Fidelity ER-20 Earplugs are ideal hearing protectors. Enjoy the sounds you want to hear and stop the ones that cause damage. Your hearing provides you with the ability to listen to a massive range of different sounds. Hearing is one of our most important senses and we all take it for granted until something goes wrong. Imagine if that ringing doesn't go away, or if you cant hear parts of music and speech that you know are there! Listening at high volumes can damage your hearing permanently, but wearing regular earplugs kills the music and isolates you from what's going on around you. (You'll know if you've tried them, which is, after all, why you don't want to wear them). ER20 Ear Plugs are different - They'll protect your hearing without spoiling your enjoyment of music and reduce the risk of serious hearing damage later on. They use a patented, revolutionary filter system that drops the volume but retains all the fidelity and keeps you in the mix. They are ideal for use in most situations where noise is dangerous. ACS ER-20's Music EarPlugs are re-useable hearing protectors that protect the ear against excessive ambient noise. Due to the special filter, the fidelity of the original sound remains and speech intelligility is hardly affected. In the workplace when sounds reach a level of 85dB(A), it's the law for employers to provide hearing protection. Outside of work, it's down to you! Customers appreciate the headphones' noise level. They say the sound is clear, with all the sounds audible, vocals included. The headphones don't muffle the music, just take away the harsh and tinny high frequencies, leaving a very clear sound at a reduced level. They can still hear people talk while wearing them if need be. They help lessen the music to an acceptable level, saving their hearing when in bars and clubs that are too loud.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2016I had the bigger size which wasn’t being held in place. I’m glad I lost one of the pairs of bigger size, as I bought this smaller size which fits my small ear canal perfectly.
The plastic may be a bit tough but after a while you get used to them – I guess they get warmed up and more malleable as you wear them.
I had them for a year and a half now and find they work really well. I use them to learn the flute. I’m so glad to be able to protect my ears with this small size, as they reduce the noise of the harsh high register, yet if the noise is attenuated, the quality of the tone is not impeded.
These earplugs stay in place, but are easily removable because the stem is of a good size ( 3cm in length).
The stem sticks out of the ear, but as these are transparent they are not too noticeable; the advantage of the longer stem is that you can easily remove the earplug, unlike some other brands which have tiny little stems. These earplugs can be fitted easily in with a twist, no need for tweezers of any kind to put them in or take them out.
They are solid, but soft enough to be able to twist them in the ears.
I think they are invaluable and a good make. I highly recommend them.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2015Reviews for this type of product are always going to be highly subjective but if you read enough of them you may get good overview. So, my situation is that I’m a drummer and I wanted earplugs to use while rehearsing with rock bands in studios and when playing live. Essentially the goal would be to just “turn down the volume” without making things sound muffled. I’ve tried several earplugs; from the generic foam type to some others that claim to do retain a natural sound. My conclusions are that you need something to cut the volume by around 18dB - any more and it’s too much. Most earplugs seem to cut too much of the high frequencies which make it hard to follow vocals and guitar. Also, by degrading the overall balance of the sound you end up with a rather unsatisfactory listening experience which defeats the object of creating live music.
I’m happy to say, these are easily the best ones I’ve tried. They fit well (although to be fair, I’ve never had problems with in-ear headphones or other ear plugs), reduce the volume while allowing me to hear all my band mates really well. They may not be perfect; the frequency response isn’t totally flat but they’re good enough. They also stick out quite a bit but it does mean you don’t end up having to use pliers to remove them.
For the price they’re at least worth a punt.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2013I've been using these earplugs for the last year or so and have found them to be extremely effective. They make even the loudest of sounds comfortable to hear and seem to 'muffle' the sound very little, keeping almost everything nice and clear. I've used them at many gigs and clubs and the only trouble I sometimes have is if the bass is set too high in a value then that seems to be filtered less (probably because it transfers through my body more) and that means that the high end (particularly female vocals) end up getting lost a bit and sounding too quite. but this is only an occasional problem when the local audio has not been mixed correctly, in every other situation I have found them perfect.
The only reason they're losing a star is that they stick out quite a lot when wearing. This makes they quite obvious and they can sometimes be knocked out a bit.
I absolutely LOVE that they come with a string so you can hang them round your neck when not wearing them - this is a killer feature that very few alternatives offer.
The pouch is neat and handy too.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 May 2014Cannot praise these enough as excellent budget reusable earplugs!!! Comfortable, last for ages with some basic cleaning, handy carry pouch, reasonably flat response.
I use these as a semi-professional Sound Engineer to save my ears when I'm not mixing at the time. They also get used to save my hearing when I'm in bars and clubs that are just too loud!
Good:
- Really high quality feel to them
- Free carry pouch
- Last for >18 months with some basic care
- Flat enough frequency response that although the high frequencies are "dulled" more than the low frequency the sound is still clear
Bad:
- Not good enough to use while mixing a band
Summary:
Would 100% buy again. Recommended for anyone working regularly in a noisy environment - especially drummers, musicians, bar staff, photographers etc.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 May 2012good product enables you to hear everything around you without the muffled effect you get with the standard foam earplugs nice little case to keep them in. my only complaint is that i have very small ear canals and do have difficulty in fitting these ear plugs properly and used them for the first time recently and didnt feel confident that they were protecting my ears fully so i resorted back to the old foam faithfuls. will persevere with these next time i need them but dont let my ear problem put anyone off buying these as i think they are an excellent product and having read reviews of seasoned concert goers who highly recommend i would have to agree that the majority of people have no problems with them at all.
