I'm a scout leader and had real trouble finding a whistle that the kids didn't just laugh at. This one fit the bill perfectly good sound and very loud.

I needed a whistle for the large school playing field and this whistle is perfect -don't go for cork pea whistles. I had plastic whistles with metal peas and so called metal referee whistles with plastic peas but the acme thunderer is all you need. It is a good high pitch loud sound.

The Acme Thunderer whistle – large, is a mighty fine whistle! On a recent TV train journey Michael Portillo visited the Birmingham factory of J Hudson & Co – now known as Acme Whistles – and watched these whistles being made. The love and attention that went into their production made me want one – although I don't have a serious need for one other than as a bit of fun. I'm really glad I bought one as it is a genuinely lovely thing – British engineering and manufacturing at it's best! Whatever your need I'm sure you will not be disappointed with an Acme whistle.

Needed to replace my current whistle as it wasn't very loud. No wonder Wylie Coyote always went to Acme. It does what it needs to. It's loud and what I needed

I bought it for school and was not disappointing. It gives a very metallic, heavy and thick feeling. The sound is very powerful and consistent. It's a very excellently built whistle. The only annoying thing is, as i have it around my neck with my ID card, as they collide this gives of a cow bell sound, which is becoming a bit annoying, but when i get to blow it, i forget everything lol.

this is called a stop whistle and used when you want your dog to stop at a distance - good for gundogs. I have not yet trained my collie to stop so will not write any more comments. It worked really well with my spaniels.
