Mars, the far future. War droids created for a conflict that ended centuries ago, the ABC Warriors are resistant to Atomic, Bacterial and Chemical warfare. Charged with bringing peace to the civil war-ravaged frontier colonies on the Red Planet, the Warriors have finally recruited ex-member Happy Shrapnel. Realising that their maker, Ro-Busters CEO Howard Quartz, is the figurehead behind most of the devastation on Mars, the Warriors decide to terminate him. The problem is that due to their programming, they can't. And yet, there was one robot who defied Quartz on a regular basis. An ex-sewer droid with a bad attitude... An ally of the A.B.C. Warriors called Ro-Jaws...

Great book, nice to see an alternative view of the Ro-Buster years, making the characters more 'grown up' and have more character. Was going to write about the art, the colouring, lettering etc, it is all a great leap from where we were when Ro-Buster's was originally made. if you grew up reading the original, you're gonna love this.

The last and easily the best of the three 'Return...' stories. It's another ABC Warriors flashback tale, and yes, they're wearing a bit thin by this point - but with all the set-up taken care of at the end of 'Return to Mars' we plunge straight into the heart of the action for a mercifully straightforward story that does none of the skipping backwards and forwards in time that 'Return to Mars' did.

The Ro-Busters disaster squad are a crew of broken-down misfit droids sent to clean up in the aftermath of the worst disasters the 21st century has to offer - because they have no rights or freedoms, they're expendable labour. What does their boss Howard Quartz care if they don't come back from a mission in one piece? The robots are on the brink of rebellion the world over; it's only going to take one little push to see them rise up against their oppressive human masters and make a few changes to the status quo...

This explosive state of affairs is the backdrop for a tale of disaster profiteers, underground robot railroads, cyborg war criminals and

It probably helps to have read the original Ro-Busters stories (or the very last one, at least) but it's certainly not essential to follow what's going on. Both creators are obviously having oodles of fun at each and every point - Clint Langley in particular outdoes even his own previous giddy heights. By the end we're very much back to the present, with the ABC Warriors ready to take on all their greatest enemies once and for all with the knowledge they've gained...
