It is designed to be practical and accessible and will support good teachers in becoming even better at what they do. (MedReview, 1 September 2012)
"Color figures and sample evaluation forms make the high quality text an outstanding value. Cantillon is a professor at the National University of Ireland and Wood is director of medical education at the University of Cambridge. Originally published in 2003, the second edition adds three closing chapters on teaching professionalism, faculty development, and supporting students in difficulty." ( SciTech Book News, December 2010)

This book is clear, concise and practical. Each chapter is written by different authors but they are all readable and there are useful references for further reading or study. A good starting point for aspiring medical teachers.

A good summary of popular educational theory, more of a revision aid and prompt. I have just completed the PGCE in medical and dental education, and although this does not provide enough detail to rely on soley it has very clear sections and covers the main headings well

An excellent book for the novice and also for more experienced teachers. It gives very clear reviews of current teaching techniques and assessment methods. I used the book as a resource when writing an extended essay for a further education course and found it very helpful. I would recommend it to any doctor who is starting to teach medical students.
