Dirk Bogarde was an extremely eloquent writer, and when his acting days were behind him he turned out one well-written, entertaining, colourful and humorous book after another. He was one of my mother's favourite writers and I grew to appreciate his prose after borrowing books from her shelves. This is a poignant account of penpals who never met but enjoyed a respectful, spirited and loving friendship, until the lady (the previous owner of his house) passed away.
If you're like me and love Dirk Bogarde you will love all of his autobiographic books. He has such a brilliant writing style, such a great thread of humour running through - and such an interesting life. So read it, you are bound to be entertained!
