I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone who has already visited Sri Lanka, is planning to go, has never even considered going or perhaps already lives there. From the moment Mike and Jurgen step out of the airport they are determined to ignore their jet lag, shed any preconceptions and enter into the Sri Lankan culture. They engage with local people, respect different traditions, observe bewildering ceremonies and try out every Sri Lankan experience possible. I was carried through their 91 days with humour and a real appreciation of their involvement with the country by travelling on foot, tuk tuk and train. Their visits to well trodden ancient sites were mixed with a personal walk through history without overloading the reader with facts, which can easily be studied elsewhere. Their ventures into less trodden areas were refreshingly different to the usual guide books. Their 91 days is a tribute to the mind set of two young travellers and the friendly people they met along the way.

A really informative, well written guide to Sri Lanka. I really liked the informal friendly tone. It may not be everyone's style of travelling, but the author has an enthusiastic and pleasant manner, which makes for a terrific read. If you hadn`t planned on Sri Lanka you will after reading this!

I read this book before the Holiday and also took it with us. I found it extremely useful as a reference guide during our tour of the island

A fantastic read for anyone who wants to travel Sri Lanka and get more than the usual glossy overviews. Written in anecdotal form with informative and fascinating history thrown in for good measure, you'll be booking your flight out before you reach the half way point. I found the balance of showing the country's pitfalls alongside it's stunning beauty and uniqueness more compelling than the usual travel bumph around, especially because of the humour and good nature with which it is presented. You can't help but laugh at some of their encounters. A massive thumbs up to this book and the blog, it's what convinced me to spend my honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
