Top customer reviews
The picture quality is nothing but excellent on HD channels and Blu Rays, very vivid with a real depth and texture to the picture. We have Sky, and sometimes the TV can struggle a bit with fast movement, but only on certain channels (it's always the same 2 or 3, so I'm guessing it's the broadcast quality). I watch a lot of motorbike racing, and it handles the fast movement fine.
Standard definition channels are also dealt with very well, with the picture quality much better than our old plasma.
3D is where things get even better. We've watched in 3D both on our home cinema system and on Sky 3D, and both are brilliant. The colours are so vivid, brilliant textures, and the sense of depth is great. There is no flicker or distortion at all. I was a bit sceptical about 3D, but since we've got this TV, I have a long list of films to watch that I've recorded from Sky 3D! And the bonus with this TV is that you get 4 sets of glasses, which are comfortable enough for you to forget you're wearing them.
The sound is also good for an LED TV. It's got decent bass which some seem to struggle with, and it does a good job with surround sound too.
The Smart content on the TV is very easy to access and use, with good content. There's a 3D world section included, and also games which include 3D ones also. We have our TV wired to our router, so speed is very good. I've not really tried it wireless though.
All in all, we are very pleased we took the plunge and bought this TV. The picture quality is better than we dared hope for, and 3D is excellent!
My 2D picture rating: 4/5
The Good: Vibrant and clear enough to beat the pants off my 5 year old Sony LCD.
The Bad: For the more discerning viewer, the depth of contrast could be better.
My 3D picture rating: 5/5
The Good: Eye popping depth of field with no apparent ghosting or other noticeable artefacts. Becomes really convincing when viewed in the dark.
The Bad: Can't think of anything specific. Only the usual issues with 3D, like having to wear glasses and watching the right films to make it worth while.
My Sound rating: 3.5/5
The Good: Convincing across the range at low to mid volumes.
The Bad: Bass and Treble fall off at high volumes but mid-range still packs a punch. Good enough unless you want the best.
My Connectivity rating: 5/5
The Good: Plays ALL videos stored on my NAS served by Twonky. Including .mkv, .vob, .avi files, H.264 and MPEG2 encoded. Has built in apps for Lovefilm, Blinkbox, NowTV, and Netflix; plus others.
The Bad: Had some issues with the Blinkbox app just quitting for no reason. Happened a couple of times streaming one particular film, but have streamed others with no issues. Some slight pixelation when changing scenes when streamed from online providers but generally this is to be expected depending on encoding method used and available bandwidth from ISP. - All relatively minor
My Sports rating: 3.5/5
The Good: MCI 800Mhz
The Bad: Doesn't seem to make much difference to normal viewing. - Still some blurring and ghosting artefacts. I think normal (and even HD) streamed sports (e.g. football) are not encoded at high enough bit rate to take advantage of advances in motion technology. May be better with services like Sky Sports via satellite but I don't have it to compare.
My Magic Remote rating: 4/5
The Good: Easy to handle, looks good, can access all TV functions, can be used to control other devices.
The Bad: Takes a bit of getting used to. TV Guide is two clicks away instead of one.
