Product Description

Enjoy having complete electronic control of which rooms your HVAC system heats or cools with this 24V Motorized Duct Dampers that can be automated (or manually controlled) in a variety of ways. These units are compatible with our popular RCS HVAC Zone Controllers (see our 24V Electronic Duct Dampers for other compatible units). 24V Hardwired power supply included. These models offer the flexibility of being controlled with any mechanical thermostat, an appliance module (when used with a plug-in 24V AC power supply), or an X10 Universal Module (all sold separately). With electronic duct dampers, an appliance module and any X10 timer, you can reduce your heating/cooling expenses by cutting off airflow to unoccupied rooms during work hours. Or, if you want a room to be a little colder or warmer than the rest of the rooms in the house (i.e. grandma and grandpa's bedroom), any mechanical thermostat can close the damper when a pre-specified temperature is reached. The 24V Motorized Dampers a

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, worth the investment 29 Dec. 2014

Used 2 of these on a wye to join two exhaust fans from our master bath. Both came with the 120V AC to 24V AC transformer. There is definitely a delay in them opening, as you can hear the fans rev up to full speed as they are pushing against a closed damper, then quiet down a few seconds later as they gradually open. The fans take maybe 3-5 seconds to get to full speed, then the dampers are fully open maybe 3 seconds after that so these have a delay of maybe 6-8 seconds to open. Acceptable for my uses.

I used these instead of the simple gravity dampers because 1) they are more airtight and 2) they do not flap when there are strong winds, which have been so loud and annoying at times that the previous ones had woke me up. These seem to have eliminated that issue, which is why I made the investment. If it were not for the delay, I would give them 5 of 5. If they are being used in a zone application, as they are designed for, it would probably not be a factor.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Looking Mechanical Unit 11 Sept. 2014

I am still in the process of making holes and installing tubing to put this unit "on-line" this winter to gate the combustion make up air to my gas-fired hot-water system which backs up my geothermal heat-pumps (two-systems). Last winter I used two 4" drier vent dampers "backwards" to good effect, but want a little more air more directly through the always-on cold air return through the geothermal - system air-handler, sitting right next to the furnace, for the basement and main-floor. Expect to connect directly to the high efficiency furnace initially but future "expansion" would see a positive combustion interlock and a controller-expansion to open the fresh air vent any time 1.) the outside air was within a few degrees of my indoor set point ( plain old ordinary fresh air ) - or - 2.) any time the clothes dryer vent was "open".

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product. Bought 2 31 Dec. 2014

Excellent product. Bought 2, one for the shower and one for the toilet. These allowed me to have independent fan control in separate spaces using one high power inline fan. Each damper comes with a 120 to 24 vac transformer. I wired a transformer to the light in each area and the dampers to transformers. The fan kit came with a y splitter, 2 butterfly valves (check valves) and 2 diffusers. That did not work; both butterflies opened when the fan started. These dampers did the trick.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage 1 Nov. 2016

Motor burnt out within the first year. Have to ship back the whole item to the manufacturer and they will "check to to if it is a manufacturing defect" with no guarantee it will be covered. Waste of time and money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality damper. Know NO vs NC need before you order. 3 Dec. 2014

Has nice black gasket seals inside to prevent leakage and "whistling" when closed; the picture doesn't show this. Outside sheet metal is nice a rigid -- thicker than the ductwork that I connected it to. I had a specific zoning need which required normally closed. Most zoning functions use normally open, so be careful in ordering.
