Jim Heimann is Executive Editor for TASCHEN America in Los Angeles and the author of numerous books on architecture, popular culture, and Hollywood history. The author: Laura Schooling is the Creative Services Manger of STYLE.COM, and was the founding editor of Front Desk Los Angeles magazine. She has written about music, fashion, and art for Black Book, Time Out New York and Angeleno. Her fiction writing has been covered by SOMA and featured in Giant magazine.

I used this advert for a costume project on the 1950's and it was an extremely good sourcebook for what ordinary American people may wear. What especially aided me in my task was that prices are often included in the adverts, also that you always have the year and brand name included because of the books layout.
Personally I would recommend this book to anybody who wants for a sourcebook but already knows about the fifties as it includes many American fashions that I found fascinating. Or equally anybody with an interest in the 1950's. Though I should add this book does not include any overtly sexist adverts such as 'You mean a woman can open it too?!' so if this is what you are wanting this is not a book for you.
