If zombies are the disease then your trench shovel is the cure. A straightforward game where your brain will not be used as much as your grenade launcher rifle or twin miniguns. Necrovision is great fun set in an interesting and unusual world ie Hell. It is said that hell is other people it is here but of course the other people are dead, dead and more dead. Bring it on! I'm about a third of the way through at the mo, and I believe that there is a special hand weapon I've yet to aquire so I'm looking forward to getting that. The undead deserve no less than dismemberment in chuckle inducing ways. I can recommend this game you may well find yourself playing through more than once because it's so enjoyable

Mad, Return to Castle Wolfenstein-style FPS, set in the trenches of WWI. Dead soldiers come back to life and the whole thing turns into a bit of a zombie-fest, with some of them incorporating weapons, barbed-wire, etc. into their bodies.
Graphics are pretty slick, but have a 'greasy' look and are rather too resource-hungry for such basic fare. Anything-else? Nope.

There is nothing pretentious about Necrovision.
Unlike the equally as good Cryostasis, released at the same time, and also worth checking out, Necrovision has no great film script ideas of building tension and scaring you with your own paranoia.
It simply leads you in, via a World War I trench - unique in an FPS in itself - and drags you underground into an absolutely massive fun old style shoot 'em up with vampires and zombies.
Top laugh. Great fun and highly recommended.

I`ve been after Necrovision since I saw a review in a PC games mag in 09, it ticks all the right boxes in terms of what I wanted & I got it under my buy new, dirt cheap policy. Necrovision mixes WW1 settings with the supernatural & if like me your a fan of 2000 ad mag then imagine "Fiends Of The Eastern Front" with digital artwork by the very excellent Clint Langley & you will get some idea of what this great game is all about, I installed this game in about 8-10 mins with no problems on my Dell Studio 17 (320gb Vista Premium & on a ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card) I have not had time to play the game as such (the first cut scene & exploring the trenches) what can I say the graphics are fantastic & although this has a historical setting, the supernatural settings (including the hellish underworld) do not detract from this which is great for some one like me who has an interest in both military history & the horror genre.

I can`t rate this game highly enough, however potential buyers should be aware the back of the box states " 1 game 1 disk on 1 computer" so it has limited installations, I have accepted this due to the superb price, the fact of my Laptop being only 14 months old & because I wanted this so much, however I have docked the game 1 star re the review. It's ok but a bit too repetitive & the bosses at the end of each level are a bit too hard.
Good points are the build in cheat mode i.e. god etc.

It's an average game but not in the same league as say Painkiller or Wolfenstein. The graphics are pretty good and the story line is average

I had fairly low expectations when I bought Necrovision, but having just completed it I have been pleasantly surprised.
Pros:
Good graphics
Huge levels giving much more gameplay than most modern shooters
Secret areas and artifacts to be found, rewarding exploration (I used to love this kind of thing in Doom and other early FPS)
Good variety of weapons during the WWI stages.
Enjoyable combat
Replayability: I don't normally replay games immediatly, but Necrovision allows you to replay levels to try to improve on secrets found etc., which I found quite good fun.

Cons:
TERRIBLE voice acting (though some of the German phrases are so bad they are funny)
Slightly confusing in the early levels
Occasional gameplay annoyances: e.g. One particular mission has a frustrating time limit to it, and if you don't succeed in time it is 'Game Over' for no apparent reason.
Final couple of levels get a bit repetative

In summary, I would highly recommend this to FPS fans with fond memories of early FPS games, rather than the those who prefer the more realistic Modern Warfare formula.
