From one half of the esteemed Albahari brothers, this pocketable (literally) volumes covers all the core language features including Generics, LINQ, lambda functions, closures, async and dynamic binding. This is more of a quick reference than a textbook and although the material is detailed the style is probably a little too terse for beginners but perfect for mid to seasoned developers looking for a deep dive into new features of C# or for developers switching to C# from Java, C++ or whatever. For beginners I'd recommend another of O' Reilly's brilliant C# books.

All in all, if you're a jobbing developer this book is the perfect addition to your library. So much better than trawling through the MSDN library.

Brilliant wee book.
Learning C# from a teach yourself course.
Got this so that I can keep the different statements / programming features fresh, and
get a second source for the odd thing which may not be explained too well.
Lots of examples in the course but wanted something with a short, succinct example of each feature so that as I
write my own code I can have a quick refresh when needed.
Very clearly written, excellent code snippets. Nothing wasted but all essentials covered.
I reckon long after I finish the course I'll be carrying this around to keep me right.

This is a very accurate and concise quick reference book that explains and illustrates many important features of C#. However, it's not aimed at beginners, so if you're new to object-oriented programming languages such as C# you may struggle with it.

Contract developer - C# and VB.NET
Purchased to replace my tried and trusted C# 3.0 Pocket reference (2nd edition).
Previous pocket reference is always to hand and travels with me everywhere.
This version has approx.15 fewer pages although no fewer details.

I have used the Pocket Reference books before so I knew how helpful they can be. If you have experience with other languages this is perfect for getting your brain up to speed with some of the finer details of C#. I have this on my desk to pick up when I am unclear with a certain area of the syntax, e.g. at first using delegates and the System.Linq package (even though I have a background in Javascript and callbacks).

I would strongly recommend purchasing this book if you are moving to C# from another language and want to get up and running quick.

Good coverage of the language and concise. If you are fed up with programming books that waste your time with waffle instead of getting to the point then uses this book. I think it is suitable for beginners and experienced programmers.

As ever, the Albahari brothers describe the essentials clearly and accurately. It must have been tough to choose the content for this concise guide, but they've managed to document the essence of the key aspects of the language, making this book an ideal source to remind you what's available and how to do the basics. It's also a really good resource for someone who wants an overview of the language without having to sift through a tomb. When you want the full details on some aspect of C# you can get that from the full C# 5.0 in a nutshell
