I have a few criteria for books on walking. Clear maps and instructions, reasonably up to date, lightweight, access to pubs/cafes en route to have lunch, and not too 'hardcore' in terms of gradient or walk length. This book does the job nicely. I've just done a few walks so far but in each case the instructions were clear enough.

This is a wonderful way to get to know Kent a bit better. We're trying out all the walks. The last two we have done - numbers 16 and 17, we got totally lost on, but the children thought it great fun. Number 16 through the Romney marsh had us tramping through fields which were shoulder high and riddled with slugs - the paths had totally over grown and there was nothing to be done but go through or not go anywhere and stay with the scarecrows. The children recited 'We're all going on a bear hunt' as they rolled about the ditches, slashing nettles and picking up the gigantic slugs. On the other hand we have discovered a really beautiful walk right on our door step which has become our weekly run - so that is a frequent pleasure. If you love walking and exploring and don't mind getting a bit lost then this is the book for you. Kent is a beautiful county. Also really nice that there is a pub for every walk... that helps keep everyone going.

Although I haven't managed to persuade my family to go on any of the walks yet, I really like the selection of walks and the way they are clearly illustrated and described in this book. Recommended.
