Badly broke my right wrist and had an operation to fit a plate over 2 years ago now. It's been painful ever since and using the mouse with an 'ordinary' cheap pad as I have been doing always causes even more discomfort. Then I came across this one whilst browsing for a replacement and it's become one of my favorite Amazon purchases to date. The relief on my wrist was instantaneous!
As for the other plus points .... the 'sticky' material (whatever it is!!) used on the underside means it's not going to migrate across my glass desk and I'm amazed how the mouse just glides beautifully with minimal movement of my hand. The material used on the gel wrist pad itself feels soft, comfortable and as the 1st reviewer said, won't stick to the wrist as an uncovered gel pad would. Glad I bought this!!!
The mousing surface itself feels nice - rough-ish, but not too rough. The mouse glides over it just right, with excellent control. However, I feel it could have been slightly bigger - I reach the edge at times - but that's just personal preference.
The underside is a nice tacky soft plasticky rubber, which grips the desk well - I've not had it move about in use. unlike some other mouse pads with built-in wrist rests.
My optical mouse tracks nicely on the surface of the pad, no jitteryness or anything, so it's very good for that.
I can't really speak for the supposed battery savings offered by the light-coloured graduated mat design, as I use wired optical mice. I find it a bit unusual a claim, though; I'm aware that most battery-powered mice will switch down to a lower-powered mode when no movement is being detected, but I haven't seen any that vary their light output depending on the reflectiveness of the surface they're on, and a quick search for examples found me nothing.
Overall, I'd say that the quality of this product deserves five stars, it's pleasant to use, but I find the power saving claim a little dubious, and I think it's quite expensive for what it is - there are better value offerings out there.
I'm using this mat daily with no wear apparent yet after a couple of weeks; I'll update this review in a few months to report on longevity.
It is stated that the working surface is especially suited to optical mice. The mat shares its size and format with other 3M mouse mats and which are wider than they are tall. Most mice occupy at least half the height of the mat, some close to two-thirds which does not provide much vertical working space; there should be sufficient to accommodate the sensor without a risk that you will bump into the wrist-rest at the bottom or exceed its borders and my current mouse is of that style. Width is less of an issue although there is possibly an excess. An earlier 3M mat without a wrist-pad was once owned but it barely survived 3 months before the working surface separated from its base. It was soon replaced by a superior product from another brand that survived about 4 years of heavy daily use before finally needing replacement.
Unfortunately, the wrist-rest on this induces extreme discomfort after about 40 minutes and intense pain subsequently and probably because that portion is lacking in deptth, probably no more than 2cm maximum. While soft when casually pressed, the gel used feels hard and unforgiving as a session progresses and intensifies the discomfort felt. The formula appears to be cosnistent across 3M mouse mats as another was tried elsewhere with the same results.Read more ›
The wrist rest gel pad is 18cm x7cms, so it's longer than the support on my previous pad. At about 1.5 cms high, the gel pad isn't as humpy as I've been used to; it's covered with a very smooth, soft fabric that is pleasant to the touch. I was dubious about the lack of height of the support but in use I am delighted with it. My wrist is far less tired than it was before; the height of the support holds my wrist at a more natural angle and is consistent across the length of the pad.
The working surface of the mat measures 22cms x 17cms so there's plenty of room and I'm not nervous about falling off the edge. Use of the mouse is swift and accurate. The underside of the mat sits securely on my desk and doesn't slip about. It behaves as if it is adhered to the desk surface but it isn't. A slight tug removes the mat without any damage to mat or desk surface. I'm really very pleased with this product. It's well-made, visually attractive and it does its job.

Nice enough as mouse mats go, but I'd baulk at paying the asking price for it (thirty quid or so). Despite all the manufacturer's claims about tracking precision and the like, the... Read morePublished 3 months ago by Small Scale

This is a nicely designed bit of kit. It has a medium speed surface, not too glossy, not too matte. It is of a decent size, only low-sensitivity mouse users would need anything... Read morePublished 4 months ago by Impulse Buyer
I have to say this is probably the best mouse mat I've had. The fabric wrist-rest is very comfortable, better than a plastic-finish one, and very supportive, the 'give' is just... Read morePublished 4 months ago by Zipster Zeus
Solid well made mouse mat.
Wrist rest is comfortable and fairly squishy. It certainly helps with wrist ache caused by mouse use. Read more
The underside is a magnet for dust and dirt. It is non slip. It is very reflective - as my photo shows.
