3M 4255 Reusable Respirator

Convenient and comfortable

The 3M 4000 Series Respirators are a range of ready-to-use, maintenance-free, half face mask respirators designed for effective and comfortable protection against certain gases, vapours and particulate hazards. Their integrated filter design results in a very low profile mask and improved field of vision, with no need to replace the filters. Maintenance-free respirators can be used until they become damaged, difficult to breathe through or vapour can be tasted or smelt inside the respirator. COSHH maintenance records do not need to be kept if disposed of within one month of first use.

Lightweight and flexible, this half mask is easy and comfortable to wear. It features an adjustable cradle head harness and soft, textured face seal that prevents slippage. A central exhalation valve helps prevent heat and moisture build-up within the mask. Each 3M 4000 series respirator is supplied with a re-sealable bag for clean and convenient storage between uses.

This pack contains one 3M 4255 reusable half mask respirator (FFA2P3R D), suitable for protection against organic vapour and particulate hazards. A spray mist pre-filter (3M 400 Overspray Guard) is also available to prolong the life of the main particulate filters.

Long story short since the Amazon listings are quite misleading as it shows specs for 4000 series I assumed it would work with bleach etc. Seems like its needs to be 4277 for that but I still couldn't smell any chlorine gas even though it was extremely strong. As I had the mask on I hadn't realised how strong it was and only stopped cleaning after 10 mins when my eyes stung a bit. They are still burning nearly a day later but should be temporary. My bad for forgetting goggles.

It isn't that comfortable because it has to form a tight seal around your face and there will be temporary indentations on your skin when you remove it but it really helps to protect your lungs when doing things that involve lots of pollutants such as smoke, dust, etc. The main draw is that it's reusable and maintenance-free.

The soft rubber provides a very snug fit around the face, whilst remaining comfortable to wear. The filters remove all odours from casting resin and particulates from wood turning/sanding. The mask is very easy to adjust and the head harness sops any slipping or moving whilst working with the mask on.

This has been one of a few masks that doesn't leak air out of the top of the nose piece when I breathe, which in turn fogs up goggles, so I'm very pleased.

They seem to last ages before you get a whiff of something, so for a maintenance free mask, they are good value for money (Mine is still going after six months of approx. 2 days use per week)

Have been using mine for over 2 years now for many DIY and workshop jobs. It's very comfortable to wear and gives excellent protection but I did buy it for general purpose use. I was a little apprehensive about it and was wondering if it would be value for money (because filters can't be replaced) but it has turned into an excellent purchase. I wear glasses but the seal is excellent and I get no fogging. Feel very safe when using it and I highly recommend it.

Now used this respirator in anger taking down dusty ceilings. I found the item very effective in protecting my nose and mouth from dust. It is very comfortable to wear and provides sufficient filtered breathing air. Proof of this being a dirty face but around the nose and mouth dust free. Also fitted well with a quality pair of goggles and cover-all whole body disposable overalls. The whole item is well fabricated with quality comfortable materials. Fixing straps provide appropriated security. Don't bother with cheaper (paper) masks. Your health is worth much more than the cost of this product. Wth proper use this item will last a lng time.

I used this throughout harvest last year...whether I was sweeping a grain store, emptying fertiliser, blowing down the tractor radiator or doing some minor demolition, this mask had me covered! It's a P3 mask so offers the greatest level of protection, and by the time I threw mine away, the filters were literally black. Despite this, I could still breath clearly with full protection. Provides a nice comfortable seal around the face, and the head straps apply pressure evenly. Only negative comment would be that the plastic head piece is a bit flimsy....having said that, it survived two months of being constantly put on and taken off all day and night long.

Definitely a worthwhile purchase, you'll never go back to paper masks again.

Best thing I've bought in ages, got one for my house renovation as dropped plaster / ceilings so lots of from manky dirt / dust - works a treat! Million times better than the cheap material ones - worth the £20 or so investment for sure - I've had mine in regular use for 8 months now and still going strong, couldn't have done without it. Only criticism would be that it is a bit sweat-inducing on your face due to rubber....but at least that means it's sealed!
