A Brilliant Debut Film from Murali K. Thalluri

I was astonished at the mastery level of this 2006 debut film written, edited, produced and directed by an amazingly talented twenty-one year old Australian, Murali Krishna Thalluri. "2:37" was selected for the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals and was also the opening film at the Melbourne Film Festival. Among the film's many attributes, the music (especially Faure's 'Requiem') and the sound editing are critical in setting the mood for this sensitive and provocative look at several high school students and how their lives and relationships (or lack thereof) intertwine, implode and explode. The acting, the cinematography and the semi-documentary style of the film kept my attention riveted throughout. For me it was an emotionally devastating experience. Bravo to Mr. Thalluri and to the entire cast and crew!
