Painfully exquisite!
This was a masterclass in soul searching, in learning to look at the world through the wider lens and to accept that there are some battles that you just have no chance of winning.
Luke Lane knew just that, his life was a battle, in every sense of the word. His heart is just about coping with the death of the woman he adored but when his career was almost the death of him, he was left with little to fight for or so it seemed.
But finding out if he was indeed a father wasn’t going to be an easy task because all he had was rumour to go on and Ava was in absolutely no mood to give any quarter to him or his feelings, she had her own problems to deal with and Luke, and his inquisition was one she was not willing to add to the mix.
Losing Thomas was the last kick for Ava, her heart was shattering but she had her kids to care for so she was left with little opportunity to really mourn the man that had given her a happiness she had never thought possible.
But while she hides away from the world dealing internally with her new reality, she is also faced with the fact that Luke, her son Chance’s father is back on the scene and has his own pain to deal with, she has to keep him at arm’s length for the time being, because losing Chance is not an option!
But Luke has found his reason to fight, his reason to put his feet on the floor each morning and he is not going to go away anytime soon, he will be in his son’s life no matter what.
Someone was going to get hurt in all of this, I was so sure, but I wanted them to find a way to help each other, I couldn’t help but think that this painful situation when it came to its conclusion would end up with someone getting decimated in the process.
I had my fingers crossed that I would be wrong but was I?

After the way 27 Truths was left I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I honestly didn't know where this author was going to take us next or what heartbreak she was going to throw at us until I started reading this book.

There's one major thing about this series I loved. The fact that it evoked such a strong reaction from me while I was reading it which ended up in me ugly crying more than once!! I always say when a book is able to make you cry it shows the talent of that author and their writing.

There were parts of this book that I hated Ava, and I mean full on hated her! I couldn't get her reasoning for some of her actions at all! I was so p!ssed off at her and honestly couldn't understand why Luke didn't just shake her. In saying that I could literally feel her heartache seeping through the pages of this book. My heart broke for her circumstances but it still didn't excuse the things she did.

Luke showed us a completely different side to him in this story. He was still brash and rough around the edges but he was so much more loveable. I have to say I hated him in 27 Truths, I couldn't believe the things he done to Ava but he definitely won me over.

This series is a definite must read although make sure to have a good stock of tissues handy as the author plays havoc with your heart!!

If I could give 10 stars for a book then this would be the one.
You have to read 27 Truths first or this book won't make sense. I've been waiting anxiously to get my hands on this story since I finished Ava's story and it did not disappoint.

"THERE ARE LIES IN LOVE, JUST AS MUCH AS THERE ARE TRUTHS"

I wanted to hate Luke but as you read as you learn his truths and lies I fell back in love with him. We learn what makes him tick, what his demons are, why he acted the way he did. Ava of course is in the book, we get to see how she's coping with her life now. I love how we get all the families in the stories and oh how I love them all.
I've tried to be deliberately vague about the actual story because you need to experience it unfold the same way I did, it's like a budding flower slowly unfurling until the beauty of the story is fully revealed.
I loved everything about the story, the characters, the angst and emotion every word is perfection.

This is the conclusion of Ava and Luke’s story, and what an emotional rollercoaster journey it is. This story is Luke’s perspective, and is very enlightening. When Luke joined the army, he was finally able to become the man he always wanted to be. He is strong, protective, determined, deep, and stubborn, and he is determined to get through to Ava who is now a mess.
This is a beautiful and emotional story. This author has done an awesome job in writing these books, and I recommend her work to all. Looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

This book pulled me in so quickly & with so much conviction I felt hopelessly wrecked from the very beginning. I knew Luke’s story was going to be powerful, I just wasn’t prepared for it to be so real, so painful or so desperate.

27 Lies follows on from Ava’s story of 27 Truths & I was left stunned, shattered then mended through the whole 27 lies & the heartbreak that lay within. Luke’s story is filled with regret & hurt, yet also bursting with hope, love & determination. It was heart breaking yet uplifting & I couldn’t put it down.

I loved him from the start (truly I loved him from Ava’s story even when he was being a douche). His career in ruins, he is damaged, suffering & alone. He spends countless hours regretting his words to Ava, for not fulfilling his promise of always protecting her, for not being honest & saying those 3 magic words. Life is cruel, he lost her, she found love in the arms of another man & now because life is cruel beyond measure, she is hurting.

He doesn’t understand why she hasn’t reached out, why she is hiding in Boston, until he over hears his family talking & it’s like a tidal wave crushing against his chest. He can’t believe that the whispered words could hold any truth, but deep in his heart he feels the first flutter of hope. Yes, he is angry, but more than that, he is determined to find the truth & hopefully by doing so work to fix the mistakes of the past.

My heart splintered for both Ava & Luke, for the lies told, for the hurt those lies caused & for the pain they bled while trying so desperately to claw their way back – to somewhere other than the wretched place they found themselves in.
