I have previously owned three Iiyama Monitors - one 19",and two 22" over the years. All were very pleasing ,gave no trouble,had no Pixel problems,and had very good picture quality. I decided to upgrade my Iiyama 2207WS to a 24", and visited Amazon's Website - Where else!! I was on the point of ordering the Iiyama E2407WS for £216, and saw the Asus VH242H for £168. I looked at the reviews written by customers about this Monitor, visited the Asus Website, and looked at other reviewers opinions of it. All were extremely complimentary about the Asus VH242H. I took the plunge and bought it. I placed the order with Amazon on Monday 9 November, and it arrived Tuesday Morning 10 November via City link. I unpacked and set up the Monitor, connecting it to my Dell Quad Core Inspiron Desktop via the DVI lead - Graphics Card is an ATi Radeon Sapphire HD4670. I was absolutely Stunned at the SUPERB Picture when my Desktop appeared on the Screen.The Clarity, colour and definition were genuinely OUTSTANDING. I then turned to the Internet, and finally opened my Microsoft Office 2007 aplications. All were in my opinion PERFECT. I could never have wished for a better experience on Screen. This Monitor is truely Superlative,and Unbelievable Value for money. Asus have surely struck gold with this Model. In common with other reviewers,I did feel that the default brightness level was a little high. I found that a setting of 80 was perfect for me. I had no need to tweak anything else. My normal screen Resolution of choice at the moment is 1152 x 864,with the Monitor set at 72Hz refresh rate. I am retired and my eyesight is not as good as it once was! For me personally this gives a perfect visual experience.
I also could not see any evidence of Dead or Stuck Pixels,so ran a test to find out if there were any lurking in the background,and lo and behold, NO, NOT ONE!!
The Asus looks extremely impressive in an understated way, and its performance is quite simpy EXEMPLARY. I cannot recommend it highly enough!! Buy one quick before they have all gone, or Asus put the price up!!
