I live in the UK and bought the calendar for my Dad who's a bit of a history buff. It looked really promising but all of the events are American. My birthday, for example is 'the birth of Dick Van Dyke'. Hardly a major historical event for the rest of the world. Perhaps the capture of Saddam Hussein would have been more appropriate? (the same date)
Another event was Crazy Horse's surrender. The calendar's account makes the attack on his home camp sound like a fairly matched military battle, rather than the slaughter of non-fighting peoples including women and children by heavy weaponry. Marilyn Monroe's first wedding also features, which affected nobody.

In conclusion, the calendar could be better researched and less American. Not that my review matters, as I doubt anyone will be considering purchasing a 2013 calendar now.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2013 History: Boxed calendar 3 Feb. 2013

A bit disappointed.....all black and white print, no photos or color. It's interesting and they included a variety of historical events throughout the ages, but I don't think I will order one again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Day in History Calendar 15 Jan. 2013

This was a great present for my husband, a history buff. Each day not only gives him a new highlight from history, but it also has sparked a few family conversations. The price helped make this a very good value. It arrived earlier than expected, so that I was able to wrap it prior to giving it as a gift.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the History (channel) nut. 25 Feb. 2013

My wife is a history and history channel nut. She loves the fact a day type calendars and this one fit the bill. It's standard 1-a-day style for a desktop calendar with the rip-off sheets. I'll be looking for this, again at Christmas time, it was a winner!

Everyone tries to be so politically correct that our currect calendars rarely ever reflect what was once the norm. This one has all the USA Holidays(I hope). This is a History Lesson?

As a middle school teacher, this Day in HIstory Desk Calendar is wonderful! I have a little white board in the front and I put the days' topic and it is a great way to start class!
