I have bought literally hundreds of things from Amazon and never written a review, but now I simply have to because this little gadget which cost less than the loose change in my pocket is amazing! My PC is 2 rooms and 3 walls away from the thingamy-jig and I get a perfect conection. And it came within 36 hours from ordering! Am I a bit sad getting so excited about a little thing the size of my thumb nail?

4.0 out of 5 stars Revised review 27 Sept. 2014

At first I had only a little success with this device and could only get it to receive from the router and not send to the router. It would have been very helpful if there had been a piece of paper that just said, "Do not accept the driver that Windows will automatically choose for this device, but choose the appropriate one from from the mini CD."
Some while after the Windows' choice had failed me, I decided to try the mini CD and got the device working. Now it is working fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job - bargain! 26 Nov. 2014

Arrived 2 days before the earliest ETA.

Worked out of the box on Windows 7 Pro. Some people have said that you must use the supplied drivers but I used the generic Windows 7 drivers. HOWEVER...... the PC in question was already on line via a LAN (cable) connection. I left it connected and when Windows found the adapter, told Windows Device Manager to Update Driver Software. It did and installed it as a Realtek RTL8188CU

Then I unplugged the LAN, entered my secured WiFi details and it connected. Rebooted and it failed to connect - unplugged the Adapter, plugged it in again - connected OK. Rebooted again and it connected and ran. Have since shut down and restarted the PC at least 10 times and it comes up and works perfectly.

Compared to the LAN, running SpeedTest shows a drop of < 5% - the PC is in my office, 2 metres from the router. (I bought this to clear some cables out of the way and because I'm running out of LAN ports on my router.)

As a bonus I just tried it on a Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system - connected immediately, speed roughly as above.

Does NOT seem to overheat as some people have found.

Very satisfied

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect it picks up a full signal when my PC ... 2 Sept. 2014

Perfect it picks up a full signal when my PC is upstairs at the back of the house when the Hub is downstairs at the front of the house. My only complaint also postage was really quick it came within 24 hours of dispatch. My only complaint is what it was used for postage was a jiffy bag so the disc could of been snapped but other than that perfect and will order from here again.

Fantastic little device. I couldn't find the WIFI drivers for my laptop after I re-installed Windows 7, and this little device got me connected to the web again.

Very fast (latest N standard), and absolutely tiny.

Comes with a little disk with the drivers - installed in seconds and pleased as punch.

Highly recommended

Superb - my laptop has a metal body and this weakens any WIFi signal - this is one way round the problem - albeit a temporary fix until I got a Teknet wireless repeater to strengthen the WiFi signal from our BT Hub.
It's plug and play - takes a couple of minuted to set up and your away.
Also was a lifesaver when my Laptop wireless card picked up a bug and refused to communicate with the home WiFi - windows 10 couldn't do an internal fix and suggested I do a web search - not helpful when a computer can't access the web. Laptop also does not have an Ethernet port - so plugging into the back of the router was not an option. Wireless USB adapter to the rescue - plugged it n - did the internet search - found the solution, fixed the bug - sorted

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the right size 11 Dec. 2014

Not really what I ordered. The image shows a very small WiFi adapter - what I got shipped was one twice as large as the image. This made fitting it inside my Raspberry Pi case really tricky. If it were in a laptop, it would be at serious risk of getting knocked out or broken.

It did "just work" on Raspberry Pi / Raspbian / Linux. It shows up as "0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS" and didn't require any extra downloads.

Speed wasn't great. I was only able to get a peak of around 32Mbps out of it (on a 152Mbps line).

Range was adequate - worked upstairs while the WiFi point was downstairs.

For less than £4 I can really be bothered to send it back. If you're looking for a tiny WiFi adapter - this is *not* it.
