Product description

From the Inside Flap

Extreme success, by definition, lies beyond the realm of normal action. If you want to achieve extreme success, you can′t operate like everybody else and settle for mediocrity. You need to remove luck and chance from your business equation, and lock in massive success. The 10X Rule shows you how! Success is your duty, obligation, and responsibility, and this book gives you step–by–step guidance on how to achieve phenomenal success for yourself!

With The 10X Rule, you′ll learn to establish the amount of effort needed to guarantee success and ensure that you can continue operating at this level throughout your life. Most people desire success and have great ideas but they come up short on the amount of action required to get their lives to the exceptional levels they deserve. Four degrees of action exist, and in order to achieve your dreams, you must learn to operate at the fourth degree of action: Massive Action. The 10X Rule will dissolve fears, increase your belief in yourself, eliminate procrastination, and provide you with an overwhelming sense of purpose. The 10X Rule compels you to separate yourself from everyone else in the market and you do that by doing what others refuse to do. Stop thinking in terms of basic needs, and start aiming for abundance in all areas of your life.

The 10X Rule guides you toward the frame of mind that all successful people share. Aim ten times higher than you are right now and if you come up short, you′ll still find yourself further along than if you had maintained your life′s current status quo. The 10X Rule teaches you how to:

  • Reach goals that you previously thought were impossible

  • Correctly set goals and guarantee their achievement

  • Create unprecedented levels of happiness and satisfaction in every area of your life

  • Use fear as fuel to move you into action

  • Get everything you want and never have to settle

  • Dominate your competition and become a role model for success

Many years ago, I read a book written by David J. Schwartz, The Magic of Thinking Big, that helped me to widen and deepen my perspective when exploring possibilities. I was reminded of that book as I began to read The 10X Rule in which Grant Cardone also urges his reader to keep in mind that most human limits are self-imposed. Long before Schwartz's book was published (my copy was published in 1987), Henry Ford observed, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." More recently, in Built to Last, Jim Collins and Jerry Porras urge business leaders to select what they call a BHAG, a Big Hairy Audacious Goal, for their organization. Cardone brings valuable insights to an important discussion of how to increase sustainable fulfillment of human potentialities.

In other words, many (most?) people become committed to a negative self-fulfilling prophecy: consciously and/or unconsciously, their self-defeating attitude ensures that they will either fail or fall far short of what they could have achieved. And more often than not, they see themselves as victims of circumstances over which they have little (if any) control. In striking contrast, peak performers are committed to a positive self-fulfilling prophecy: consciously and unconsciously, they consistently achieve great success beecause they are absolutely convinced they not only can but WILL. It is not a matter of "if," only "when."
In Chapter 1, Cardone lists the basic series of mistakes people make when setting out to achieve goals:

1. Selecting objectives that are too low, too easy, etc. that will not excite, inspire, and motivate people.
2. Severely underestimating what is necessary to achieve a goal.
3. Spending too much time competing, not enough time succeeding.
4.

Read a couple of times at least. No I'm not saying 10 times, but it does require you to put in some extra work and it's worth it because strangely, you get enpowered to do more perhaps just by believing in yourself. That's it you see, it cannot be explained by me but it works.

If after reading this book you don't change your outlook / approach to life, then I seriously doubt you will find a more detailed kick butt, take no prisoners book to get you moving. He tells you of his mistakes and what it cost him. He gives you step by step action guidelines to make it easy to implement the powerful ideas in this book. Not all of us want to build $100 Million empires, but for those who want to create an amazing life and be an example for others to emulate, then I can't think of a better book to get you moving. It's 10X mind set all the way baby. I now find myself completing work in days when I used to take weeks. I realized after reading this book that my laziness has cost me dearly and that I could no longer afford to delay. I wish I had come across this book much sooner because it tells you exactly what it takes to become mega successful much sooner, on a more consistent basis.

This isn't another one of these books about how to structure your goals, it's about getting your mental attitude right and developing a robust winning mindset.

I saw this book recommended in an article by a high-achiever for whom I have a great deal of respect. I expected it to be the usual 'rah-rah' kind of personal development sales book. But it isn't. Yes, like every other book in the personal development genre, it's a mix of stuff you already know, plus commonsense. However, it's extremely readable, well-structured and well-written. There are little tests at the end of each chapter. The book is - to my mind at least - comprehensive in addressing the problem / challenge of achieving greater things with your life and reaching something like your full potential.

What I particularly like is that it rather forces you to face the uncomfortable truth about your lack of attainment. I could certainly see that when I achieved the most in my life, I was pretty much doing what this book recommends. Anyone who reads it and follows through will achieve far greater things with their life.

Format: Hardcover
1X – Heard it all before
2X – He contradicts himself (Regards to property – He buys but you should rent)
3X – No real usable ideas
4X – Promotes being in debt
5X – Over promotes himself (yes there is a limit)
6X - Synonymous with people living beyond their means
7X – Regurgitated and repetitive
8X – Ripped off a lot of Les Brown and Tony Robbins. - “just 10xed it bro”
9X – Uses too much slang and poor language
10X - Claims he’s worth £100m using the 10X rule in reverse that probably means £10m
Basically this book has nothing of any value apart from telling you to take some action. Which is actually is major thing required to reach your goals. His definition of success being freedom is trite. Anyone with that much debt cannot be free – To me success is freedom from debt.

This book has changed my life in a way. My reaction to it was so strong that it made me see clearly that this is not the direction I want my life to go in. It's about pounding through life, more-more-more, leaving the competition in the dust and good riddance. I am no slouch - I run a successful business, write novels, and have a family, but his path to success is not mine. In fact, it made me feel ill and sad for mankind. I'm sure the author will take this review on the chin as he revels in criticism - for him, it's a marker that he's succeeding. I gave it 2 stars as the founding principle which is - work hard, of course, has merit. I should add, I listened to this rather than read it.
