5.0 out of 5 stars It still feels fresh and new 9 Mar. 2016

George Bruns took the Sleeping Beauty ballet by Tchaikovsky and adapted it to the Disney animated classic, and it was there that I first knew of his music. But I had been hearing his work before that on the old Disneyland TV show in the 1950s, especially in the Tomorrowland shows, Man in Space and Mars and Beyond. His music has a wonderful, youthful freshness, and I've always enjoyed that quality when watching 101 Dalmatians. Disney tackled the job of animating dozens of dalmatian puppies by using the newly-discovered Xerox process to carry out the task. The lines of the drawings are sketchy, so the backgrounds have been designed in a modern style to mesh with this new look. George Bruns' treatment of the music is just as modern and provides a delightful backdrop for all the visuals. It's a perfect match.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Handling of a Good Soundtrack 17 Nov. 2014
By Daniel B - Published on Amazon.com

I got this because it's one of the Disney movies I'm less familiar with, and I generally like the soundtrack/score albums from the older Disney movies (older as in before Walt died [which is not to say I don't like newer Disney soundtracks, but they're handled a little differently]).

I'm certainly not disappointed. You can hear the influence this soundtrack had on later ones, and its very interesting to follow the different stylistic tones from the beginning of the movie (where there's a lot of nice noodling around such as an up-and-coming composer like Roger Radcliffe might be expected to do) toward the rest of it (when the emotion and action is already "set up" properly and it plays like a more typical soundtrack). And I've always liked certain specific soundtrack cues in this movie.

The only potentially disappointing surprise I can imagine is that "Cruela De Vil", one of the catchiest Disney songs ever, is on this album the way it appeared in the movie. (The melody on piano before Roger puts words to it, with the lyrics interspersed as they fit into the conversation.) I like it that way, but there were more lyrics written for the song, and different versions of the song have been released over the years that make for better singalong material.

But even with that in mind, this is an album I can recommend to anybody.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! 3 July 2015

My son received this album as gift for Christmas last year. He likes the 101 Dalmatians franchise. This product features the songs from the movie of the same name, and they are fun to listen to! Some of the audio tracks are soothing. If you're a fan of 101 Dalmatians, I would highly recommend this CD!
5.0 out of 5 stars 101 dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney movies so of course I love the soundtrack 23 April 2016

101 dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney movies so of course I love the soundtrack! It's got Rodger singing "Cruella DeVille", which is enough of a reason to buy it (or, athe least that song). The score is wonderful and "Kanine Krunchies" is even on here. Love it!
