A parade of squares from easy-easy to a little more challenging but nothing too frightening. Great instructions and an ideal book for the beginner to the little more advanced. To be honest, for me this is a pattern book that will be used over and over for filler squares and there are very, very few squares that I wouldn't make - and how rare is that in a book of 101 squares? Not always easy to find a copy now but well worth searching one out. A most delightful book.

If you can only have 2 books this along with 101 granny squares are the 2 to get. They cannot be seperated in their excellent quality, instructions and overall content.
I an now using my second copy of this book - the first one fell apart after much use and if anything is wrong with it, then it is the fact that like most books they do just fall to pieces easily.
The scope of this book is tremendous and it takes you on a journey of creativity each time it is used. I cannot praise it enough. It is quite easy to interact the patterns with each other.

This book has been a constant source of inspiration for me since I received it as a gift about 4 years ago.
Probably one of my all time favourite crochet motif books (and I have a few!), the instructions are all written with no charts but very easy to follow.
I have probably made about 75% of the squares from this book, all of which I have been very pleased with.
Quite hard to get hold of these days so if you see a copy, grab it!

HASH(0x9c21b594) out of 5 stars Some fresh new patterns to choose from 1 Mar. 2005

I was looking for more "granny square" patterns and came across this book and ordered it.

It becomes hard finding "fresh new" patterns if you have picked up crochet books in the past. I was thrilled with many of the patterns in this book, since they were different from the ones I already had. It was just what I wanted; lots of lovely patterns so that I could make my own creative designed afghan.

I would consider myself beyond a beginner in crochet, however not advanced, and the instructions of the squares I have made were easy and clear.

I think this book is for anyone wanting to expand their square pattern library, and worth the money.

HASH(0x9c21b7e0) out of 5 stars I am so disappointed.... 26 Feb. 2005
By Jeanie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I had purchased this book based on the suggestion of someone in one of my granny square swaps - I am returning it today. The color photos of the squares are 16 to a page - very hard to see - and the photos next to the patterns themselves are black and white. I have been crocheting for years and tried several patterns from this book - none of them came out well enough to use in my swap.

Perhaps this book is good for very advanced crochet, but if that is the case, it should be made clear.

This book is great! Each square is creative but well thought out and easy to follow! I have used many of these squares to design my own afghans!

HASH(0x9c21bccc) out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!! I Made All 101 Crochet Squares. 27 Mar. 2010

If you are new to crocheting, like I was, then this is THE perfect book to start with. After completing a few squares, I decided to make all 101. And I did. Check out my journey at my blog, This Year's Dozen. The book author even left a comment on my blog which made my day.

HASH(0x9c21bb88) out of 5 stars It is ok 20 Oct. 2009

I like the book and some of the squares are really neat. I just wish that they would have put the picture of the square next to the directions. They have the pictures on the front and back (the only ones in color BTW) and in the center of the book. They are numbered and when you find one you like you look up that number elsewhere in the book.
