There are some web links cited in the book that should take you to more information, such as an example of a covering letter. However, when I tried one of these it didn't work (the web page did not exist). I could understand if the the book had been published some time ago as I wouldn't expect the web site to be maintained forever, but the book was only published this year so this is quite poor.
I would question the wisdom of some of the advice given. For instance the author encourages the reader to connect with as many people as possible on LinkdIn who have a similar profile. The guidelines on the LinkedIn web site specifically say you should not do this as it totally misses the point of LinkedIn, which is to plot real-life networks; i.e. to connect with previous colleagues and business contacts. The author describes LinkedIn as "Facebook for business connections", which is most certainly isn't.
If you treat this book as one of many sources of information on contracting you will get some value from it. You will probably pick up some useful tips from this book but you would need to consider carefully before acting on anything you read in it and take it as just one person's view.
