There is a lot of music in this book (definite value for money) and a lot of care has gone into selecting and organising the material. The editor, Frederick Noad was the author of the repected method 'Solo Guitar Playing' and editor of several attractive anthologies. This collection will be useful to any classical guitar student approaching intermediate level ('advancing beginner'?) and then for a long while after that for the further honing of fundamental technique.

The book consists of studies from the three main composers and performers of the early 19th century - Sor (50 studies), Giuliani (25) and Carcassi (25, all his Opus 60 '25 Progressive Studies', considered an essential work). Each piece has a commentary pointing out the pedagogical features of the study. Fingerings are largely Noad's own (not all the composers added fingering indications.

I would also recommend Noad's series of anthologies. My personal favourites are the Renaissance and Baroque collections. They too have good historical and performance notes and are attractively illustrated.

I purchased the book because it says in the title '100 graded classical guitar studies' and hoped that the studies would be placed in the book in order of difficulty and its recommended grading, but they're not - perhaps some assumption on my part. The print quality is awful as well and the paper is very poor, making readability a little harder.

Some pieces are familiar from past guitar lessons some new but compilation and commentaries are excellent. Selected pieces develop various skills needed for enjoyable playing. Many difficulties forgotten during the years are rediscovered, and this is a good - or bad - thing depending on your state of mind.

I like given fingerings as they help the player prepare for the next position in time. These markings are usually forgotten but can be very useful. As a hobby guitarist I like also the progressive nature of the selected studies. All in all I like this book a lot.
