10 Years of Hits celebrates Ronan Keating’s tenth anniversary as a solo artist from the early "When You Say Nothing" to his latest single, "I Hope You Dance".

BBC Review

Ronan Keating's greatest hits: the gift that just keeps on giving. In fact it's more than giving - this is tantamount to rubbing it in. It's like a sixteen-part Irish Tourist Board advert that's so safe you half want the peace process to break down just to provide some danger.

The record company press office urges you to start 'celebrating an incredible 10 years of Ronan'. On the basis of this collection, it's more than incredible. '10 years!' it tells us, 'can it really be that long?' Grab the anti-depressants - it is that long.

The albino everyman of pop is the oldest 27 year-old in the world. This man's sold more than 17 million albums and chooses to work with Bryan Adams: a man that's got 'Yes, I'll do it' on his answer phone. You have to question his musical judgement.

When Ronan sings a slushy love song, he certainly makes you weep. Moving? He gives you a movement alright. The upbeat songs are even more depressing. On "I Love It When We Do", he wails 'running up and down the street, hugging everyone I meet...when I've got you in my arms, can't turn off those fire alarms'. They're panic alarms, Ronan. Take a hint.

Ronan's image of an everyday lad is not rock 'n' roll. At a party he'd be the one minding the car keys and having a quick tidy up to save doing it in the morning. He'd make your Gran feel young at a wedding, personally breast feeding his hundreds of children and still finding time to wander round with a clip board and collect for charity. The trouble is he's too nice for pop as well. Not many people can sing for a decade, have huge chart success and still be instantly forgettable. He doesn't have a personality to hate -he just doesn't have a personality.

So who's this album for? I'd say anyone who wants a trip to Ireland that has all the authenticity of a theme pub in an Arndale centre. It's impossible to listen to him gnashing his (new) teeth without seeing those endless videos of Mr. Keating wearing a donkey jacket, leading a horse through a council estate. But be warned, as the album progresses you begin to add your own characters to those clichéd Irish films. First the street kids are throwing bricks, then offal, then Molotov cocktails. This is a collection for people who don't like music (expect it to go to the top of the charts.)

Ronan, here's a plan for the next ten years: you say it best when you say nothing at all. --Adam Cumiskey

THIS IS A FANTASTIC ALBUM. RONAN AT HIS VERY BEST. FANTASTIC VERSIONS OF WORDS AND BABY CAN I HOLD YOU AS WELL AS ALL OF HIS BEST SOLO RELEASES BUT THE STAND OUT SONG ON THIS ALBUM IS A BRAND NEW VERSION OF POSSSIBLY HIS GREATEST EVER TRACK - FATHER AND SON. WELL WORTH A LISTEN.

A wonderful collection of quality songs on this Ronan's fourth solo album bringing together his career so far. Fittingly it includes three songs representing the first half of his career, but Ronan has re-recorded his vocals to give us his mature sound which is an added bonus for the album because they feel very new and vibrant, on Father & Son there is the added addition of Cat Stevens' contribution. Ronan includes his latest No. 2 hit I Hope You Dance together with a brand new song 'Somebody Else' which is an intriguing song, as you start to listen you feel its about a relationship going wrong but it turns out something completely different, very clever song. All of Ronan's hit songs are here as expected and put together they make a brilliant album. Not to be missed.

'Ronan Keating' has had an enormously successful career, of course his early chart triumphs
were as one of the lead singers in the group 'Boyzone' which had much in the way of hits from
'1994' onward, (having reformed again and currently touring) achieving six number ones along
with countless Top Ten entries.
As a solo artist, he had an immediate impact on the charts with 'When You Say Nothing At All'
which topped the U.K Hit parade back in '1999' he followed that with 'Life is a Rollercoaster' in
'2000' which also Topped the chart, he in fact did have one further Number one in '2002' with
'If Tomorrow Never Comes'
Most of his Chart-Entries between 1999-2006 are on-board this release, many of them, in fact
eleven in addition to his Chart-Toppers made the Top Ten.
Among the many numbers of 'Ronan's' solo efforts included on the track list ......'The Way You
Make Me Feel' ......'I Love It When We Do' .......'We've Got Tonight' .(Which Features 'Lulu')..........
'She Believes' (In Me).......'Last Thing On My Mind' ( Featuring 'Leanne Rimes') and his version
of an early 'Boyzone' Hit sung with 'Yusuf Islam' 'Father And Son' ........just some of the great
numbers on-board this album.
I always considered his slower songs such as 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' and 'When You Say
Nothing At All' to suit his vocal range best.
This a superb reflection of 'Ronan's Solo-Career, well worth owning.

A fabulous collection of powerful ballads, all-time favourites, a soulful re-mix of 3 great Boyzone tunes, and 2 wonderful new songs - I Hope You Dance, and Somebody Else. All on one album!! It's been playing on repeat since I bought it.
What a vocal!! Ronan Keating has one of the most powerful and recognisable voices in the music industry. The manner in which Ronan can interpret a song in such an emotional and heartfelt way truly transforms a set of lyrics into a 3 dimensional aural experience. The re-recording of Father and Son with Cat Stevens is just magic!
Even if you're not a Ronan Keating fan, you should give this album a listen. It will impress, engage, and leave you wanting more of the Keating magic.
Highly recommended album where each song is a definite hit.

Ronan Keating's new album - 10 Years of Hits - is compiled of 11 UK hit singles, 3 re-recorded Boyzone songs, the recently released I Hope You Dance, a song written by Ronan for his mother This Is You Song - UK Bonus Track - and another song called Somebody Else.
Well - what can you say? It's got the classics - When You Say Nothing At All, The Way You Make Me Feel, Father and Son - and the more recent tunes - Last Thing On My Mind (with LeAnn Rimes), She Believes in Me, Lost for Words. 5 Stars to each song, and if you want to know more in the inlay is a few sentences about each song from Ronan, saying what he thinks of the song etc.
Being a Ronan fan, this album is the ideal purchase - all of his great singles on one CD - and the previously unheard Somebody Else is a real heart-warmer. The only minimalistic downside to this is that some of his better tracks from previous albums aren't on it - but they weren't 'hits' as such because they were unreleased, so it sticks to it's name.
Well done to Ronan and to Polydor for putting up with him for 10 years! 10 more please...

A really fantastic album full of feeling. Every single song holds a special memory for me, Ronans songs have helped me through some very difficult times in my life, his music has given me a very good friend, I have travelled all over to see him and had massive amounts of fun in doing so. This album is a cumulation of all these memories for me and when I play it I can recall them all happy or sad. I hope Ronan keeps doing what he does best, because he is "Simply the Best".
