Most of us don't want to live till 90 years of age if it comes with the price tag of Alzheimer's Disease or an extensive list of medications to maintain chronic ill health.
Anyone wanting to get some background into the subject of functional medicine can rely on Holford's books, including this one. You'll most certainly find his references up to date and comprehensive. His material is clearly outlined and makes the case for individualising what each person's optimal diet should be. Nutrition is part art and part science. That's probably why there is so much disagreement between authorities of equal status.
Reading some of the critics of this book suggests they may have had an agenda that coloured their subsequent review.
Overall, it provides helpful ideas for bringing your lifestyle habits in line with the 10 secrets.
