I'm looking forward to hearing these creep into sermons across the land, Milton is in danger of being quoted as often as the gospels on a Sunday morning.
My only problem with this book is it is soooooo short! Milton told us at Greenbelt that you could finish reading it while you queued to pay for it and he was right.
Many congregations will be hearing from these "sermons" and will be very glad of it!
Milton's one-liners are just as amusing as on TV :)
Bought it largely as "a tonic", to be taken when life in representative ministry gets tough. Proved it to be just what the Doctor would have ordered if I'd gone to him first!
Some good ideas worthy of further exploration when writing sermons designed to last a bit longer than 10 seconds. I like the way there is a gentle bit of fun poked at Christianity - with a serious point for those who don't want to take their preaching too seriously. This book fills a serious gap within theological reading. Let's hope there's a "More Sermons ..." quietly simmering away somewhere.
However, it is more than a one-liner listing. It contains themes and topics, albeit brief on which to reflect and to use as the basis or topic for a short sermon. I have shared my copy among several Clergy and they all seemed to think that I might prove useful in their ministry.
Nothing here is mind blowing or will move mountains, but it is erudite, funny and thought provoking, which is presumably the authors intention.

Not the best book I've read. Milton is a funny stand up but I got the idea he ran out of material for this book not far into it.Published 29 days ago by Jordan
They're coming in very handy, I'm getting everyone to randomly open either book, read out what they find & discuss! My family are rapidly going off me!Published 6 months ago by Durango Splubb
Full of Bon mot but a bit superficial. What can you expect in 10 seconds!Published 6 months ago by Stanley68
Typical Milton Jones humour bought as stocking filler at Christmas although hadn't realised the book is pocket size.Published 14 months ago by Anon
