Why use two wires to connect to external screen

The Neet Mini-displayport to DVI cable connects a modern Apple computer to an external monitor. It connects to the thunderbolt or displayport socket on your computer and after a reasonable length lead plugs directly into your monitor; projector or maybe tv. Neet's advantage over the apple branded accessories are twofold; you are saving money in your pocket over the apple original equipment; and you only need one wire rather than 2 as the apple adaptors would require.

The combination of value; convenience of the single wire and a more than acceptable at this price build quality all add up to 5 stars.

I recently purchased a new HD monitor but was unable to play my purchased HD content from iTunes due to (High-bandwith Digital Content Protection) HDCP problems. It turns out that the problem was I had connected the monitor via VGA, which is not a HDCP compliant method.

The DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter fixed the problem straight away so now my HD iTunes content will play via the external monitor.

Very happy with the quality of the cable and also the price. Another plus point is that the cable takes up less space than using an adapter from Apple.

5 stars...The other reviews are spot on - you have to know the fact this is for the NEW Macs with the mini display port and that it is being connected to a DVI adaptor on a standard flat monitor. I connected a 2010 iMac to a Samsung 2232 bw monitor (DVI connector) with no trouble at all - the iMac picked up the second display and after as small amount of configuration I was away. - Sellers service was just as advertised and a good product - thanks.

As other review have stated the cable does feel a little poor quality but at the end of the day it does what it is supposed to do and is a fraction of the price, used this many time to hook MacBook Pro up to a projector without fail. All of the clever mac screen adjustments work as they should do, why pay the huge amount apple wants for an original adapter when Neet can do the job at a fraction of the price...

A good price and a big improvement on using an Apple adaptor to connect my macbook to an external monitor. Signal quality is noticeably better using this direct to a dvi input than using an adaptor and vga cable to the other port. It wouldn't hurt if this was considerably shorter, as it only has to span a short distance (macbook to the display next to it), but that's not a big issue.
Delivery was efficient and overall construction seems fine.

Purchased this for an old Cinema Display and didn't think to check the pins. When it arrived, I realised my plug was male and so was the adapter.
Other Mini Displayport to DVI adapters on Amazon are female.
The only way you'll know is by examining your plug before you buy.
The cable seems fine although obviously I haven't used it. The DVI plug is a little chunky.

For the price, it's a solid purchase. I wanted to connect my iMac to an external display - it's a pretty old one and has VGA or DVI. This cable allowed me to do that. I used to have a dual monitor PC setup before I changed to Mac, and it's great to have it back again. You don't notice how much a second monitor helps out until you actually have one. It's worth every penny!
