Having grown up in the heart of Mercia after twenty years in business AJ Richards decided to formalise his interest in history. Getting a BA in history and starting on a MA in Medieval History he stumbled across one of those funny little side shoots of the past that make it so interesting. The role of Anglo Saxons as Varangian guards in Constantinople after the Norman invasion and conquest has long been debated; but this was more. There is evidence of these same Anglo Saxons sailing from Constantinople across the Black sea and creating a new country for themselves, a new England, a Nova Anglia. This series of books tells the story of one family being caught up in the tumult, chaos and violence of the Norman Conquest, Hereward’s rebellion and having to flee before being swept along on the road to Constantinople. There they will all play a part in the plots and intrigues as well as the luxurious lifestyle of the Imperial court while around the city the constant threat of invasion looms. Having been of great help in the Imperial service they are able to depart to help create this Nova Anglia but will this be what they want, will this new land and life give them back what they left behind under the Normans?
