Are you or someone you know going through a break-up?
My specialism is providing the emotional support people need to move forward when they find themselves struggling to cope during divorce or separation. Through my work I see many people caught in a painful, and at times overwhelming situation. A situation that often has come as a complete shock.
It’s very easy for matrimonial professionals in the legal system to lose sight of how it feels to be going through an unexpected break up after a long relationship. For the person experiencing the separation, it’s a grieving process. This can be accompanied by a frightening loss of energy, sense of awareness and vivacity. Many people feel they lose their sense of self. For example, they cannot imagine being alone, without their life partner. Life has no meaning to them anymore.
This is not a place to remain but often it is hard to see the way out alone. My role in these situations is to support the choice to move on. Remaining where you are is not an option.
As a relationship coach I understand that the tools to manage the devasting sense of loss can be difficult to recall when emotions are high. When we feel alone or underconfident following a break-up, there are important messages to the self we need to hear in order to rebuild that confidence, help us to re-learn to love our own company, and ultimately to become strong enough to move on.
I have written After The Split - The Definitive Guide to Recovery When Relationships Break Down to serve this purpose. I have worked with many clients who needed to gain clarity regarding their fractured relationship, but I have also been through the very same process myself. I would truly love to hear your thoughts and learn from your experiences before, during and after your reading it.
