Dr. Scherto Gill
Her research interests centre on understanding peace and human flourishing as a holistic and dynamic process. The key concepts she is developing include human-centred education, narrative pedagogy, critical narrative, dialogic approach to education, intercultural learning and internationalisation of higher education. She is keen to explore how to apply these concepts in the teaching and learning at all levels towards social transformation.
Scherto is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Sussex's Department of Education. She teaches on both Masters’ and Doctoral programmes. Her most recent publications include titles such as: "Human-Centred Education: A practical guide" (Routledge 2016); "Why Love Matters: Values in Governance" (Peter Lang, 2015); "Education as humanisation: dialogic pedagogy in post-conflict peacebuilding", Special Issue, Journal of Comparative and International Education (Volume 44, Issue 1, 2014); "Redefining Religious Education: Spirituality and Human Flourishing" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). She is a regular contributor of Huffington Post blogs.
Scherto is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Guerrand-Hermes Foundation for Peace, an international research institute based in the Southeast of England.
