Sheffield author Joel Toombs has packed a lot into life so far - from a degree in Architecture and a Masters in Mentoring & Coaching to 10 years as a Christian youth worker and now works as an Artist Development Manager for a Sheffield based Record Label, helping aspiring independent artists and bands to take their music to the next level.
Born in Kenya to missionary parents, Joel sold his first two books aged 5 to Aunty June for 20p each: The Giraffe with the Twisted Neck and The Little Black Pony.
It's taken some time to eclipse those heady heights, but Joel has been a regular contributor to Youthwork Magazine since 2008 and written articles for a number of titles including Outdoor Fitness and Christianity. He had a booklet published in 2015 by Grove Books Ltd. 'Mentoring Young People.' Grove have also invited him to write a chapter for their forthcoming 10th-anniversary book.
Joel is married with three children and in his spare time competes in triathlons - on the bucket list is to complete an Ironman - 3.8km swim, 100mile cycle and 26.2mile run!
