I write about my two great loves: booze and looking slick.
At 14 years old I was a real Ugly Betty. I had acne, train track braces, a mono-brow and a wet look 'fro. My year book photo shows a pained but smiling-through-it-all expression. By 16, the acne was worse, and by 19 I had a grey streak in my hair (it happened over night, like Rogue in X-Men). Then, after years of experimental hair cuts, dubious outfits, and studying the style of the world's coolest, most interesting men, I've discovered a few quick, easy fixes, and started to worry less about how I look.
As a former magazine editor, I've tried and tested almost every grooming, fitness, and weird wellness trend out there, and I share everything I've learned in my books.
I'm also a home cocktail-maker and – I like to think – a world-class booze-enjoyer. I love alcohol, especially gin, and the dingy dive bars and glittery cocktail lounges you might discover the perfect new drink in. But, being incredibly lazy and socially anxious, I prefer to drink (with buddies) at home. I'm an enthusiastic amateur who's developed an instinct for what makes the perfect drink – and reveal the world's finest spirits, mixers, and the recipes that let them shine.
Thanks for dropping by.
