'Porridge the Tartan Cat & the Loch Ness Mess' is out now. The 4th book in the popular Porridge the Tartan cat series.
'Porridge the Tartan Cat & the Unfair Funfair' is out on 21st Sept. Me-wow!
Alan has written a new 6 book series for children aged 6 to 9 starring Porridge the Tartan Cat. Published by Floris Books, the series is full of zany wordplay, fab plots and brawsome adventures.
Porridge offers up a cat's-eye view of an adventurous fun-loving family, who each have a surprising secret. It features quirky characters, such as Gadget Grandad, Groovy Gran and Fergus Mc Fungus. Plus the twins, Isla and Ross.
Alan wanted to write about two energetic, resourceful and empowered children. Go-getters, who deal head on with anything that life (or a baddy) throws at them. They had to be equal, but different, so making them non-identical twins seemed just purr-fect.
Alan Dapré was a Deputy Headteacher, radio & TV scriptwriter. He still is a published children's author and illustrator with 66 books to his name.
Alan's plays have been broadcast on the radio and published for schools. He wrote Brum, Bafta nominated Boohbah ... and other telly stuff. Alan loves sharing stories with his wee daughter, and you, of course.
Here is some of his published work.
'Mixed-Up Myths - a quirky retelling of Greek myths. The Mint Choc Touch is about a girl who turns everything, including her brother, into ice cream.
'The Finders' - a chilling, thrilling play about a boy who stumbles across something not of this earth. It is an encounter that will change his life forever. The clock is ticking, the lights are shining, and Kiran's incredible destiny awaits. (2012)

'Everything You Need To Know When You're 8' - yup, does what it says on the cover (1996)
'Everything You Need To Know When You're 9' - the title says it all :) (1997)
Some of the nice things reviewers have said about my work:
'Everything You Need To Know When You're 8' - Is a confidentially written, jokey look at life from an 8-year-old's viewpoint. There are capital letters, italics and asterisks all over the place in this humorous book, pitched at just the right level. An ideal fun book for a classroom corner or a birthday present. THE SCHOOL LIBRARIAN
A slightly subversive and therefore highly attractive guide to some of the things eight-year-olds should know. It gives some useful advice, couched in a style that appeals enormously to an eight-year-old's developing sense of humour. THE GOOD BOOK GUIDE
'Everything You Need To Know When You're 7' - Full of sublime insights. THE OBSERVER
