These adaptors were bought for some LED bulbs which were only available in screw fittingLighting EVER 7 Watt A60 LED Bulb, 60W Incandescent Bulbs Replacement, Philips Lumiled LED Inside, Warm White, Energy Efficient. They are excellent value. Only point worth noting which probably applies to any adaptor is that some LED bulbs are a tight fit in the opening. I solved this by slightly lifting the adaptor's centre contact so it touched the centre contact on the screw in bulb. Well recommended as they are much cheaper than any others, especially if you buy more that one, and are very well made.

I didn't expect much from this product, but am much surprised. Firstly, came packaged nicely in a box and came supplied with a neat grey drawstring pouch for safely transporting the adapter. .

The adapter itself is well designed, being dismantled into 3 main sections, dependent on what country you are using it in. Build quality is above average, and it has charged all my devices, at least using the 3-pin uk plug and usb charging interface. I've had bad experiences with dedicated usb chargers but this item has worked with my Samsung digital camera, mobile phone and even iPod. When charging via usb, for both the mobile and camera, the usb indicators turn on to signify charging using usb.

note: when charging the ipod, the usb light does not come on, but the ipod signifies it is charging by the battery icon turning into a lightning bolt.

I still need to test this item abroad this summer, but so far am very impressed, especially with the usb charging, which will allow me to leave at least 3 device chargers at home saving on a lot of bulk. The adapter charges two items at once too. I honestly can't ask for more from this product.

Just because the plug fits doesn't mean you can use it!!

This adapter is only rated at 3 amp - most devices that have a heating element in them need at least a 5amp fuse (and 5amp rating on the construction of the adapter) so this should not be used with the likes of a hair-dryer (or heater, or kettle etc) as one reviewer has done. It is no surprise that the adapter blew up in this situation.

ANY adapter is likely to fail if used in a situation beyond its specified rating.

This adapter works very well when used within its operating parameters. I have charged both a camera battery (via a charger plugged into the front of this adapter) and a phone connected to the USB at the same time without any problems.

The selection of outlet connection types is very varied (175 countries quoted - I can't even name that many countries!) and you can plug a device from any of these countries into the adapter meaning it really is a one-for-all type solution. It's as close to an `any-in, any-out' adapter as you'll find in a package this size.

It is NOT a voltage / frequency converter, though, so you will always be limited as to what device you can connect by the mains supply available and the mains supply required by the device. For example a 110V device plugged into a European supply (240V) via this adapter may well damage the device itself.

AND if you plug a device/devices in that draw(s) too much current over a long period of time - expect the adapter to melt!

(The same rules apply here as when plugging devices into a multi-gang extension lead - if you overload the lead, expect it to melt or set on fire, and if the lead survives, you may melt your wall socket or the wiring behind your walls and cause a serious fire! As I said at the start, just because the plug fits, doesn't mean you should plug it in - know what you are plugging in and what the current draw limits are before you plug it in!)

Rather than buy new lamps to accommodate my hue lights I purchased these converters. They do the job perfectly and are excellent value for money.

I purchased this 'Worldwide travel adaptor', unsurprisingly, to take when I travel the world. Rather than wait until I arrived at my first destination to discover that it didn't work as expected I plugged it into a mains socket in my office, just to see that the power lamp illuminated. And boy, did it ever...
The lamp grew steadily brighter until it looked about to ignite, then the whole unit started flashing from within and sparks jumped from the pin-openings. I ripped it out the socket and dropped it in the bin, expecting it to be hot to touch. It wasn't, but I won't be using it again, and I was glad I watched it rather than just using it unattended for its intended purpose.
*** BEWARE: There appear to be a number of these listed on Amazon with different branding, but which may be identical items. The barcode on mine is taped on, and even the packaging is unbranded ***

I'm not saying they're all dodgy, but I'm getting a refund.

I got it like a month before because the light bulb I bought was screw-fix. It works fine, I havent had any problems with it. I didnt have to wait long before it was delivered too! Good deal overall!

Had this device for a while now - very good for travel to the US, charging my ipod touch and blackberry and netbook.
I tried using it to charge an ipad - it works; but after a few hours, it blew itself up (excess current draw, melted plastic, lights no longer come on). I may buy another replacement, or something ipad capable - but be careful - as ipads get more common, it will happily try to charge them, and then burnout and melt.
