LGA1155-socket for intel 3rd/2nd Generation Core i7 / Core i5 / Core i3 / and Pentium / Celeron processors.this is what they have wrote in the manual,i actually run an i3 and a i5 both with this mother board, the i5 has been over-clocked and still runs perfectly, super motherboard stacked with usable features.

The board can facilitate the i3, 5 & 7, it was only the budget that limited me to the i5. I have not overclocked the chip at present as it is all running ok. Changes in motherboards keep moving the boundaries, I am happy with the current system but who knows what 2014 will bring.

the asus p8z77-v lx should work fine as long as you check that the i7 3770k is a socket 1155, which I believe it is. it also says in the handbook that it works with i3, i5 & i7 intels. hope this helps...
